“Magnificent”

What struck us most was the huge scale of everything, the rocks, the forests, the ravines, the whole landscape is just awesome, stupendous. The grandeur is almost indescribable

“Not to be missed”
Reviewed September 22, 2013

We came across this by accident because we were escaping the smoke from the Yosemite fires. What a lucky find we had, this little intimate camp site overlooking a stunning lake. Tioga Lake is breathtaking and so private with well spaced sites. Ellery Lake was not so inviting. We later stayed in Lee Vining which was also very pleasant.

“Spectacular”
Reviewed September 11, 2013

You must take time to appreciate this entrance to Yosemite. The drive up from Lee Vining was an experience itself, with brilliant views into the valley as you climb to the top of the pass. Having crossed the top and entered the Park, stop at Tuolumne Meadows to take in the alpine scenery, and then again at Tenaya Lake and Olmsted Point. These stop offs need half a day alone as a minimum.

“Could explore it for days”
Reviewed September 5, 2013

The drive was excellent. Lots of spur trails that were reasonably accessible. The views were awesome, actually better in some ways that being in the valley. I waited on four different springtime trips to California for the snow to be clear. It was worth the wait. Each time we drove it over and back, we found new things.

“Great but not the Greatest”
Reviewed September 4, 2013 via mobile

My wife and I recently drove the Tioga Road from Lee Vining down to Yosemite Valley so we crossed Tioga Pass early on in our journey before making the long descent to the valley. As a US Scenic Byway the Tioga Road was very nice and offered a few great scenic turnouts at Tenaya Lake and Olmsted Point, but it wasn't as awe inspiringly beautiful as Glacier's Going to the Sun Road. It was a great introduction to Yosemite beyond the valley though and was still a very pleasant drive to make.
