“nice roadtrip”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 2, 2013

It's very pretty, but very crowded. Depending on where you are going, if too busy, Sonora Pass is a nice alternative, equally beautiful, and much less travelled.

“Makes you feel small”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 1, 2013

If you are coming to Yosemite from the Nevada side, taking the Tioga Pass is worth it. It will make you feel very small in comparison. When you enter the park at the top, it can still seem like a spring thaw even in July with snow all around. Then, drive for a while to Yosemite Village, and it may be close to 90 degrees in the afternoon. Yosemite is a truly unique national park worth seeing.

“Don't pass up the pass”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 30, 2013

We have been to Yosemite many times but have always approached it from San Francisco and so have never used the Tioga Pass before. The pass is a relatively easy drive and a must see. The views are spectacular and the road surface is very good and quite safe (in the summer). There are numerous places to safely stop to take in the views. The climb is about 10,000, on the way back down you can see your water bottles crumple up as they do on aircraft!

“High Country, meadows and lakes”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 17, 2013

The Tioga pass is a steep climb. but worth it, and not scary or hard on today's vehicles. Be prepared with food and sun screen. The trees are thinner as is the air at 10,000 feet. Tanaya Lake is beautiful place to relax, swim, and play on the beach. The temperature was 25 degrees different from the valley floor to the lake. July can get quite hot in the valley "90+". Take a lunch and enjoy a different view of Yosemite only available during the summer and fall months.

“Not that scary”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 11, 2013

I was a little nervous about driving Tioga Pass after some of the things I'd read. I'm not a huge fan of heights and ledges. The drive was fine, the road is nice and wide, I never felt I was too close to the edge.

The views are phenomenal. At Olmstead point, you get a great view of half dome. Tuolumne Meadows is very nice, and you can meet some very hearty hikers in that area. There are several beautiful lakes to see,

Enjoy the beauty of this area. Don't miss out!
