“Beautiful”
Reviewed October 22, 2012

We were traveling out of Yosemite via Tioga Pass and therefore stopped here for an hour or so. We really enjoyed our walk across the meadows to the Soda Springs and back. The bright blue sunshine and the alpine follows were a joy and it was really enjoyable to get away from the crowds of Yosemite Valley. This is a beautiful part of the park which we would recommend you visit if you can.

“Sequoia Cradle”
Reviewed October 17, 2012

Great spot to take a break from what has probably been a reasonably long drive heading towards Yosemite.

A walk amongst the giant Sequoias is soothing and on a warm day on the shaded track you can escape the heat.

Lots to see and photograph and some strategically placed noticeboards provide an ample understanding of the area and the natural attractions.

Clean, convenient toilets add to the mix - make the most of the stop!

“Take a side trip to Tuolumne Meadows”
Reviewed October 12, 2012

Yosemite National Park isn't just the valley itself only - although 7 million visitors a year think it is. Avoid the crowded valley in the peak season by taking a trip to (& if possible staying in) Tuolumne Meadows. There are great hikes, granite domes, babbling brooks, cool lakes and natures splendour to admire. Go visit & see more of Yosemite than most visitors do.

“Rustic and beautiful!”
Reviewed October 6, 2012

First time visiting Tuolumne, we were unsure what to expect. Along the way, we marveled at the views at Olmstead Point. Further up the road we stopped at Tenaya Lake. That stop turned out to be our very favorite moment(s) at Yosemite. The peace and beauty of the lake surrounded by the mountains was an absolute spiritual experience.
Moving along, we contemplated the hiking options at Tuolomne. The flatter meadow walk sounded uninspiring, so we headed up toward Lemont Dome. It was a fairly steep hike from the trailhead, and we diverted to Dog Lake, but then continued to the Dome. The trail gets lost in the last part approaching the dome, making the final ascent dangerous if we got going up a less than optimum direction. While I did get to the top, it was only because I followed a couple of others who had been there before. The summit does provide amazing and beautiful views of the valley and the meadow. After we descended (which we did off path by following other hikers which created some nervousness about getting lost), we had dinner at the Tuolomne Lodge. We were seated with six other interesting people, most of whom were staying in the tent cabins there. We were staying in another part of the park. All in all, perhaps the most memorable day of our trip!

“Surreal”

Like you see in photos: the meadow, the stream running though, rocks, and mountains! Would have liked to see a bear fishing in the stream but no luck!
