So there’s the easy way to Glacier Point…drive up to the car park and walk the few 100 feet to the point and then there's the hard way... take the "4 Mile Hike" ascending 3200 foot from the Yosemite valley floor to Glacier Point at the top. Of course my lovely wife decided that we should do it the hard way! lol

Its an incredibly challenging hike given its so steep and would probably rank just after the Half Dome hike in terms of endurance. But if you are up to the challenge, it really is worth the pain and effort as you will experience views (like the reverse Tunnel View) that few get to see in Yosemite. As you hike ever higher on the trail to Glacier Point you look down on the Merced river winding through the green meadows and wooded glacier-carved valley floor below. At the same time you look up at the mammoth granite cliffs against a powder blue sky asking yourself if you have the stamina to reach that high! Therefore you have such a sense of achievement once you finally reach the top and look down over Curry Village (where we stayed – see my review) below and out over to the Clouds Rest, Half Dome, Vernal and Nevada Falls. Wow what an eye popping vista! Definitely one for the Bucket List. Now to get back down!!!

Glacier Point is a must see on a trip to Yosemite. The hike from the parking lot to the point is not far, maybe 200yds. This short distance makes the hike accessible to all hikers. On our trip to Yosemite we had two hikers in their late 70's that could not go very far, this hike is short with a huge reward. There is a small store (seasonal) at the top where you can get food & drink. I really can't think of a better view. Makes you feel very small. I still go to Glacier Point every time I go to Yosemite.

It's quite a drive from the valley but worth every mile when you get there!!

The views are incredible - don't rush your time there - it is something very special.

We visited Yosemite in September 2012 and this was by far the highlight of the trip. The views of the scenery were simply stunning. The road up to the top is very winding but worth it for those views. It can be busy but you will be there a while to take it all in. There is a shop at the top for supplies. Glacier Point is not to be missed.
