So there’s the easy way to Glacier Point…drive up to the car park and walk the few 100 feet to the point and then there's the hard way... take the "4 Mile Hike" ascending 3200 foot from the Yosemite valley floor to Glacier Point at the top. Of course my lovely wife decided that we should do it the hard way! lol
Its an incredibly challenging hike given its so steep and would probably rank just after the Half Dome hike in terms of endurance. But if you are up to the challenge, it really is worth the pain and effort as you will experience views (like the reverse Tunnel View) that few get to see in Yosemite. As you hike ever higher on the trail to Glacier Point you look down on the Merced river winding through the green meadows and wooded glacier-carved valley floor below. At the same time you look up at the mammoth granite cliffs against a powder blue sky asking yourself if you have the stamina to reach that high! Therefore you have such a sense of achievement once you finally reach the top and look down over Curry Village (where we stayed – see my review) below and out over to the Clouds Rest, Half Dome, Vernal and Nevada Falls. Wow what an eye popping vista! Definitely one for the Bucket List. Now to get back down!!!
