Big advantage being in the park in respect of choosing things to do. In particular, Glacier Point a must see and bike hire was good. The whole Lodge though seemed a bit run down. Perhaps we were spoiled after our stay in San Fransisco then Napa Valley before here. It's obviously an absolutely beautiful location but on arrival at Lodge check in you get a bit of a reality check that it's all a fairly basic standard. Having read previous reviews, we were a bit confused re whether to ask for a specific building already apparently upgraded..we did and got Tamarack ad thought we'd scooped up only to find it pretty dark and depressing. Got used to it and after a few days felt settled in. The food choices were awful, again, probably spoilt after Napa Valley in particular. The best meal was in the bar and the chili. After that, downhill in food court with breakfast and in Grill for dinner. The latter was a laugh. The server was a lovely guy and very pleasant but having arrived around 8.15 pm we were very rushed....starter arrived, consumed and plates cleared pretty much as main courses arrived. Felt obvious they wanted diners out as soon as possible. Food was disappointing and over priced for what was served. All in all, have to weigh up if you're looking for certain standards or willing to sacrifice for fact you're on a park location with little competition so variable standards. Funnily enough, we would use again but would have a much clearer idea of what we'd get.

Rude desk clerks; out-dated rooms; dirty resturant.

My husband took me to Yosemite for a birthday get-a-way. We were unfamilar with the area and choose to stay at this pricey hotel. Upon first glimps the we thought we would have a pleasent stay, but once we walked up to the desk we knew we were doomed. Our room was big enough and the view was ok, but the room was dirty. For instance I opend the drawer to place a couple of items, well I have a habit of wiping things down and I am glad I did, the drawer was filthy! We went downstairs to one of the restraunts and there were crumbs in the chairs and on the table. That night we could not sleep because of the halway noise. The next morning we decided to order room service...omg! Where do I began, the black cloth was covered with lint, the food bad (couldn't eat); silverware dirty and the sugar packet container had hairlashes iand crumbs n the bottom. That night my husband was sick and I was having trouble sleeping because the people in the room next door came in...and the noise began...I phoned the desk to let them know that I did not want to be listening to the acts that were going on next door. We ran from this hotel the nest day!

Room Tip: I would opt for a homeaway from home rental or another hotel.

Well to start, scenery is stunning which is obviously why you come to stay at the park. The accommodation however is old and tired. Our rooms also had quite an unpleasant odor. The facilities are basic but you do get free wifi which is terrific. Kids had freedom to roam around grounds and felt safe to do so. I think a freshed up appearance to the rooms is in order!

The staff was friendly and helpful. Check in was fast and efficient. We called ahead and requested a specific room and they were able to accommodate us. The lodge is definitely dated but the location is perfect. Staying in the valley was the best decision we made for this 4 day trip to Yosemite. The fact that the food court does not open until 6:30 a.m. was very disappointing. We are early risers and need our coffee at the very least!

Room Tip: Our room was in the Willow building - 4323. Had the water been flowing from Yosemite Falls, the view would have been fantastic!

Room was clean, cozy, and had all the basics you need. Cafeteria food was edible but not good. Starving stomachs after a long hike will still be thankful for the food. Everything is disneyland prices, overpriced food and lodging prices but what do you expect? No competition here. Front desk was wonderful, staff all were very polite and helpful.
