Hayden Valley is a lovely 45 minute drive between Canyon Village and Lake Yellowstone. Our party spent 3 nights at Laky Yellowstone Hotel so this drive was one we took a few times over several days. Each day, based upon the time of day driven, often was a location to see herds of bison and elk. The meandering rivers on both sides of the road offered plenty of watering holes for the animals. Sometimes it was just an animal sighting because based upon park rules we could not just stop in the middle of the road blocking traffic. People pulled over all the time to take photos, not considering how much of a traffic jam they can cause. We pulled over in the park overlooks or took photos while on the move.
