This place is AWESOME!!! We were so glad we stopped here and hiked down. We got some great pictures. It was REALLY windy when we were there. Not sure if it is always like that, but I wished I left my sunglasses in the car, I thought they were going to blow off my face. This was a memory maker. We will never forget this place. If you are in Yellowstone, don't miss this place. The hike back up might be a little steep, but do it, you won't be sorry. It is just so awesome, like something you have never seen before.

We really enjoyed our time here. We stopped at the North Rim (Lower Falls - these are the big falls) and then walked to the Upper Falls (Shorter Falls). There is a path that connects them both. With the parking always a problem we felt it was easier to park in one place and see them both. It is only about a half mile each direction. There is a North Rim trail to the top of the lower falls. It is quite steep and has alot of switch backs. When you get to the bottom you are literally standing on the top of the falls. It is very impressive - well worth the walk. It is also a strenous climb back up. We also took the Red Rock path which is near the Grand View area. It also goes down into the canyon and you then view the lower falls from a down river view. It is more of a work out than the North Rim trail. The path is quite narrow at times. If it were raining, I would not take this trail because of the steepness and narrowness of it. Near the bottom there are many steps to get to a lookout. It is quite strenous getting back up but well worth it.
We had lunch at a picnic area by Wapita Lake. While there three large 10 point Elk came into the area. They were impressive! This is a trip that is well worth your time.

This is where Yellowstone got its name. You will see the vivid colors of canyon walls formed by the Yellowstone River. Go up to Artist's Point and get a goreous view. See the Lower Falls at the head of the Canyon. Also, look downstream and atch the river wind through the canyon away from the falls. Move further up the road and river and take a look at the Upper Falls. All of these are great photo ops.

Yes it does kinda remind me of Grand Canyon but it's still got it's own beauty. Once we were on the top platform we really got a good panoramic view. The weather moved in which provided for some spectacular pictures. Love that they provide seating so you can just relax and enjoy view. There was even an artist painting the falls. He was really nice to talk to. Gave us lots of interesting insite to area.
