The Grand Prismatic Spring is the image that most stays with me about Yellowstone - the amazing colours. If you're in the park, then go see it. There's reasonable parking and its a short walk up to a circular wooden pathway that skirts past the springs. It's popular, so there are more grounds than I'd like but who can blame people for coming to see this!

So many different Geysers, colors and sizes. It is an easy walk around the boardwalks. You get the chance to get up close and personal

Grand Prismatic Spring is the highlight and you can view that from an overlook that connects to a short trail. The other features on the boardwalk, also easy and short, are interesting but this is Yellowstone, and you are surrounded at every turn by the unusual and outstanding. Take the overlook view and skip the walk is you are short on time.

If in Yellowstone this is and essential. Three different volcanic systems converge and the result is majestic, ethereal and unique.

BUT the parking is terrible. You might be lucky with a space, we weren't, and had to park up on the highway and hike back.

This was probably the most crowded place we visited. It's nice to view the river that runs along the geothermals. There's not much of great interest here aside from Grand Prismatic. And since you're viewing it at eye level, you do not see the prism colors. For that view, you must climb the (steep) trail to the overlook, after a long-ish, flat walk to the trailhead, which is so helpfully marked "trail". The overlook trail is not for wheelchairs, or people who have health issues, as it's somewhat strenuous.

It is amazing the colors that are found in around the geysers and streams. It boggles the mind, the energy under yellowstone.

It is hard to believe that all these colors are from algae that live in these hot springs. Definitely worth a stop.

Be sure to circle this as a "must do" on your visit to Yellowstone. This entire short walk along the boardwalk is easy to do, and a photographers dream.

This was so well worth a visit! The area is simply beautiful and very unique. The colors are truly magnificent. I don't think a visit to Yellowstone would be complete without spending a few minutes, at least, at this site.
