“Great Wildlife”
Reviewed November 7, 2013

Late afternoon and evening allows you to see lots of wildlife. Heard that morning is also good but did not try it. We got to see lots of bisons and deers(3 different kinds). There was a black bear far away which could be seen only with binoculars. People looking at it were kind enough to allow us to have a look at it.The valley itself was also very beautiful.

“Beautifull.”
Reviewed November 1, 2013

Lamar Valley is a fine example of unspoilt nature at it's best and is home to large heards of Bison and other wildlife. Although you can get caught up in 'Bison jams' it's generally easier to find a quiet spot than other areas of the park to just sit and enjoy the stunning views the valley has to offer. We witnessed a huge herd on the move with their young as they lazily made their way across the valley, stopping to scratch on the ground while kicking up dust into the evening sunlight that was turning the valley golden. Spectacular, we could of stayed much longer than we did. Allow time to enjoy this area.

“Got Bison”
Reviewed October 26, 2013

My husband and I make a point to visit the Lamar Valley early in the morning and in the evening because that is when you will see the most wild life. This area was particularly rich in wildlife. Bison grazed beside the road and in the late afternoon could be seen drinking at the river's edge near plumes of steam rising from the water. As we were driving along we could see the bison wallwoing in the wallows they had made, massive dust coulds dotted the otherwise clear crisp morning scenery.
In the distance we could see with binoculars a Grizzly Bear defending a bison carcass, a vulture was perched in the tree above and everytime the Grizzly Bear would change positions the vulture would swoop down and try to get some the kill, the old Grizzly would just swat at it just like we would swat at an annoying fly buzzing around.
There was a very young coyatoe playing near the road, he was chasing ground squirrls he would catch one eat it then off to the next one jumping and leaping around until he caught that one the on the the next we watched him a good 40 minutes until he had his fill the off to a siesta.
The Lamar Valley is God's gift to us all.

“The place in YNP to see wildlife”
Reviewed October 19, 2013

We drove thru at around dusk and there was tons if bison and deer ... nice road that is less traveled in the park ... not a lot of traffic but we did get caught in a couple of bison traffic jams. As we were staying in Cody we then got a litte adventurous and went out the NE gate and took the Chief Joseph HWY back .... not for the faint of heart - especially at night ... but it was fun.
