We have stayed here two times while visiting Yellowstone. For the price and location it is just fine. There is a general store with a restaurant within walking distance. Also the Lake Restaurant with limited menu and hours is nearby. We have taken a radio or a cd player with us both times. This time we drove our own vehicle so we also brought a larger coffee pot and own coffee and snacks, cooler with drinks. The whole purpose is have a place to wash up and sleep after a day of sightseeing or hiking. Yes it was a little high compared to some other places that are not near a national park...but it is expensive any time you are near or in national parks or amusement parks. We did not have any problems with noise or smells. Everyone should have consideration for occupants and keep the noise level down and put kids to bed early. We had a portable fan in our room and ran that all night to provide a humming noise. We actually stayed in a Holiday Inn later in the week that had a smaller bathroom.

Go here for the location and to save driving time whgile in the park, otherwise this ahs little to offer. No TV, no radio, walls in hall are bare, no character. You could not make a smaller bathroom, only 2 peiple could share this despite 2 double beds. BUT it will save you time in the park.

Let's face it, the attractions in Yellowstone are outside the hotel. This hotel allows access to Yellowstone and is somewhat close to Grant Teton National Park. The room satisfies the need for a place to sleep/bathe, that's all. The hotel walls are very thin! You can hear many sounds and voices from the rooms on both sides. Cell phone service was acceptable here (but not consistently available throughout the park, such as Lake Village).

...but only just. Ugly buildings mostly surrounded by trees (so don't pay extra for a lake view). Comfy beds and reasonably sized rooms in need of a good spring clean. Coffee maker but no other food heating / storage. Major issue for us was sound proofing especially ill fitting interconnecting doors (1 inch gap at floor level). We had to appeal to neighbours to lower voices and dreaded the arrival of new occupants. Rooms overlooking car parks can be noisy (early morning tour bus movements with reversing sirens). Very expensive but it's Yellowstone and a monopoly so what do you expect!!! There's simply no other choice if you want the best Park on earth!

Yellowstone NP is wonderful. Two full days as a tourist is enough to see the major attractions if you are not camping, hiking or fishing. We stayed three nights at the lodge which was a glorified motel with a trek in the woods to the restaurant. At night its not lit and at that altitude can be daunting. Add to that the food in the restaurant was awful. The only thing to do besides stay in your room without TV at night was go to the Ranger programs which ended about 8:30 and had a parking lot close enough so that you didn't have to walk in the dark through the woods. The word lodge is very misleading here. There is no lobby, no place to hang out, no fireplace or cafe that is attached to the property. Old Faithful Inn which has all that is 17 miles of unlit road away, and you are discouraged from travelling through the park at night because you might hit a elk or bison. BUT, Old Faithful Inn is about double the cost of Grant Village. Loved the park, hated Grant Village. Oh, to add to the other issues, the housekeeping staff didn't actually make our bed after the first night. The bedspread covered an unmade bed. And they didn't replace the coffee we used that morning and were surly when asked to do so.

By the time we booked, there were not a lot of options left in the park. Is it overpriced for what it is? yes, but you are in the national park, and it is less than some other options. The public areas of the building reminded me of my college dorm days, the room was like a standard hotel room (bathroom amenities with cute bear shaped soap, my first blow dryer of this trip) , no Tv if that is important to you. We used this as our base to explore the lower half of the park, and the drives to Old Faithful and Canyon were not bad. If I came again, would I like to try to stay at the beautiful Old Faithful Inn? sure, but I have trouble planning that far advance or being persistent on the phone. We found Grant Village to be acceptable for our needs, as an alternative.

Staying here was like church camp or a retreat. Very basic. No TV, only double beds, very little insulation between floors, need I say more. I would not stay here again but it was the only option when we made our reservations. The saving grace was that we had 8 female elk and a bull elk come right through our lodge area the first night we were there. I stood no further than 2 car lengths from the bull elk. That was awesome.
