From the parking lot to the hotsprings is a very short walk, and this was perhaps the biggest thrill per step of all the places we visited in Yellowstone. We didn't expect to be overwhelmed here, but were.

Another basin of geothermal wonders within walking distance of Old Faithful and the upper geyser basin. Even better when you go a bit further and walk to the extraordinary Mystic Falls.

The biscuit basin is a nice short stroll amongst some cool geysers -- all with both the blue and yellow/gold rims and pools. Early in the morning with crisp air was particularly nice as the steam just floated above the water surface. But, for us also this is the starting point for Mystic Falls hike which is not to be missed. For a small hike start out and head left when the signs say to go left to the falls. It is a 2 mile roundtrip and mostly flat and in the woods along the water so a nice hike. But for more adventure take the Overlook Hike -- takes you another 1.7 +/- to the top and then you curve around and come back down along the falls -- spectacular!

We took part of this walk to see the many geysers. It is amazing how different the geysers can be from each other!

The water looks so clear, so inviting, BUT --- stay on the path. Any and all of these places are a must to stop at.
