Completely awesome experience! The early start was worth it. We were reassured to be told that the historic bus had been updated and was a safer ride over the mountain roads than it might have looked at first sight. Our guide knew where to go and had a telescope to enable us to view animals from afar when necessary. Bison and moose crossed the road in front of us; the pronghorn, elk and mule deer were numerous; and it was great to see mountain goats as well as the wonderful sighting of a grizzly and her cub. How lucky were we!

We didn't see that much wildlife in spite of the guide's best efforts, we saw lots of bison, a pronghorn and an osprey nest but sadly no wolves or bears. But it was still a great tour, the guide told us so much about the park and the wildlife, and it was fun travelling on the antique bus.

Next day on the way out of the park we saw a grizzly, you just have to be lucky !

I signed up for this trip for my family because I knew our time in Yellowstone was limited and I wanted to see as much as possible.

The Yellow Bus Tours are done in a 1936 White Model 706. Yellowstone purchased several including the one used in the movie Big Trouble in Little China (we got to ride in that one). They paid Ford to refurbish those busses with new engines, raised the entire car and put new wheel shafts. The frame of the bus is still the same (wooden and delicate). It's a beautiful bus and very unique to ride in. Partway through the tour we took the roof off the top (it's only a tarp) and rode around the rest of the 4 hour trip with the top open.

My biggest complaint is the lack of wildlife. They drove us to areas in the park where wildlife is usually located in abundance but you can't predict wildlife. We saw several bison, some elk, and mule deer. They knew the location of an eagle's nest and we got to enjoy that with the telescope he brought with him.

The tour guide himself was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. He grew up in the area and had some great personal storied to tell.

I would recommend this to anyone short on time visiting Yellowstone. It books up quickly so make sure you book well in advance.

This is a 6:15 am to 11:30 am guided tour on a fun 13-14 passenger antique bus (new chassis, historic wooden bus). The guide was terrific and pointed out many sites that we would have missed. Provided interesting stories of the Lamar Valley and the animals that inhabit it.

This is a great tour to see wildlife. It is an early morning tour but worth it. You get to see Lamar Valley - one of the best places to see wildlife and it is in an original Yellowstone bus. They provide juice and a muffin
