To get really good views of the falls, you need to walk down into the canyon-okay on the way down, but strenuous on the way up.

Great place to visit - views were amazing and there were several lookouts to see the view from a different perspective. Don't miss the lookout on the other side of the bridge.

We hiked down the 3/8 mile trail which is well paved to the two viewpoints over Lower Falls. We also went to Inspiration Point (very short walk) to see the upper and lowers falls as well as the valley. The hike down to the falls is easy, but back up is slow and one must remember to take water and use the benches that are placed at each turn. We were there at 2:30 and a double rainbow was or reward for taking the hike. You can see the beautiful falls from Inspiration Point with much less effort. There is another viewpoint from across the Lower Falls attained by waking down many metal stairs. Check other reviews for that option.

We witnessed these falls from many different vantage points, but the best was the brink of the lower falls. You will need to walk down about 1/3 mile of ramps to get there (and keep in mind the walk up), but it is well worth it. To be right on top of the falls and get a great view of the canyon at the same point, it doesn't get any better.

How close can you get to the falls, take the long hike down to the brink of the Lower Falls to find out. Stand within yards to the top of the lower Falls. Took us a day and 1/2 to figure out there are two falls and two brinks, the lower falls and the upper falls are two different falls, the upper eventually runs into the lower but the lower brink is more amazing but be ready for a strenuous walk down and especially back up. Well worth it, but take your time, take breaks and drink water.
