Owner description: Yellowstone National Park's largest lake.
Reviewed October 8, 2012

This lake is about in the middle of the caldera of Yellowstone. It is a huge lake. It appears peaceful, until you notice all of the hot spots, mineral pools, and geyers along the edges. Also, the lake is currently rising at a rate of more than two inches a year, which is huge in geological terms.

Beautiful lake. We could not take advantage of it, because it was at the end of the season. However, I was told by a Fisheries employee that there were 300,000 Lake Trout in the lake and they would like to reduce the population

We had a wonderful 2 day's visiting the park, was amazed at how close the wildlife were to us
the buffalo walking across the road in front of us was amazing, the Elk's which are beautiful creature's, the massive stag's which we got to see at some distance, we got a close up of a coyottee as he walked across a quite car pull in area, stunning, the geyser's which was delightful to see erupting, the hot spring's bubbling away, could have stayed much longer but run out of time, this place is a must for everyone, would love to have camped in the park, but we only had our car. thank you to the ranger's whom look after this place so well.

Beautiful beyond description! We can be ever so thankful to our forefathers for having the insight and commitment to creating such an incredible national park. It takes days to see even part of it. Please do not make the mistake of thinking you can see this park in a day. The variety of things to see is incredible. Plan ahead if seeking hotels. Drive between places early to avoid traffic. But definitely go experience the wonder!

Nice big lake better for motorboating than canoeing or kayaking...as it can get pretty windy without notice. Lots of places to picnic.
