“Not Impressed”
Reviewed April 9, 2014 via mobile

My husband and I came to this restaurant to celebrate our first wedding anniversary November 2013. We weren't pleased with our experience. Business was slow, being the off-season for the wineries, but I had made reservations for our dinner. Our waitress urged us to order drinks while we were being seated at our able, and came back five minutes later to wait at the table for our dinner orders. She was very pushy. When asked for a dinner suggestion, because we didn't have a ton if time to study the menu, she shrugged her shoulders. She stood chatting with another staff member as our orders sat for pick-up from the kitchen. Our meal was luke-warm. "How's your food?" "A little cold." She walked back over to her friend and chatted. She did offer us dessert, but I had to flag her down to get our check. No drink refills were offered.

The atmosphere was very intimate, especially because there were only two other tables that night. The decorations were lovely. Making a reservation was very easy, and the hostess was very personable. The other patrons were also from out of town; the locals hit-up other restaurants.

Reviewed February 5, 2014

The place is very quiet, it's ideal for a dinner with friends or family, afther the dinner, they have a bar with many beer and wine options, the bartender is very nice and good talker.

“New Owners Again”
Reviewed January 7, 2014

The new owners are trying hard to improve things. They have changed the name back to The Gould. The food was an improvement over my last visit. Still not where it should be for the venue, but I am hopeful with a little time (might be there already, need to try again) they will get it right. The new general manger seems to be on top of everything. Worth stopping in. Definitely if you want to spend a night in the area stay here. The rooms are beautiful.

“Fabulous service for lunch with friends”
Reviewed January 5, 2014 via mobile

Four dear friends and I had New Year's Day lunch here to ring in 2014. First off, the waitress, Katie, was INCREDIBLE. She has a bubbly personality and took care of every need. We are a pretty easy crowd but like good food and wine. Everyone but me ordered the buffet lunch and the choices were good: lobster Mac & Cheese, split pea soup, sandwich makings (the bread was a bit hard from being out but Katie had it replaced pronto), stuffed artichoke hearts and other hot items. I ordered the quiche (cheese & bacon) at Katie's suggestion. It was fabulous and a huge wedge! I had enough for the next morning.

We all thank Katie for the tremendous service and setting the right mood. We needed it. It had been a rough year as four of us -- all childhood friends who graduated together -- lost a parent within six weeks of each other. This will likely be a yearly get together to express love, support and to enjoy good food and joy. Thanks The Gould Hotel (the Clarence) and, of course, Katie!
