My husband picked this restaurant for a one night stop on our way from New York to Toronto and it was a real find. From making the booking till we left they were very helpful. The room was amazing and the bed extremely comfortable. It is definitely unique and worth considering if visiting the area.

Interesting....We visited the area from Ottawa for shopping at the Waterloo Outlet Mall. The hotel is a boutique hotel and overall our experience was very good.

We had a Queen Suite at the front of the hotel. If you are a light sleeper I highly recommend you ask for a room at the back of the hotel as the street oise which appears to continue all night long until dusk will bother you. The only other issue with the suite was the sticky floor. Unsure why or how but it was very sticky. The rest of the suite was clean, well laid out and the bed was awesome. Hotel staff are very helpful. We asked for another suite at the back of the hotel but was told no suites are at the back of the hotel (hmmmmm)....

We ate at the hotel restaurant both nights of our stay. The first night all four meals were amazing. Since it was so good we opted to try again the next evening as well in order to share some wine. Unfortunately, the second night was a complete 360 for three of us. Our meals were very very disappointing and almost inedible.

Our waitress who we had each night apologized and offered us free desserts. As we enjoyed our visit so much we wanted to ensure the Chef realized there was an issue in order to address the matter. He appeared very unsure of how to approach us but after working much of the room finally arrived at our table. When we pointed out the issues, he tended to agree. He did offer us 15% discount should we visit the restaurant should again in the future.

Our continental breakfast on Sunday was less than ideal....there was no juice, the toaster was not plugged in and there were no knives provided. When asked, the only person available did her best to accommodate. However, shortly, thereafter, she went to the front desk to complain about the situation (issue between responsibility of hotel vs restaurant) and we could hear the discussion without trying to listen. Obviously not very professional although clearly her heart was in the right place.

We arrived on Friday at 4 pm and left on Sunday at Noon and did not see a manager during our entire stay. That could explain some of the issues. A manager should always be front and centre even during the weekend.

Would we visit again, highly likely as we did enjoy our visit even with some of the issues.

However, there are other hotels being built near Waterloo Shopping. Hotel Clarence should listen up if they want to ensure they continue to receive guests.... The restaurant needs to nail each and every dish and clean the floors people.

By the way, its unclear why but the Hotel Bar and Restaurant close at 9/10 pm each night!

Overall, a positive stay!

Room Tip: Avoid rooms at front of hotel if you are a light sleeper....Street noise is very disruptive all the way through dusk!

The rooms in the hotel are clean, comfortable and minimalist. The beds are the best part because you really feel like the princess and the pea when you lie on them. The free continental breakfast is not worth staying for. Dunkin donuts or burger king is a better idea. The bar looks great and has lots of specials. Most of the people who stay here are either visiting the wineries or the outlet mall. Close to both of those.

Along with another couple, travelled to the finger lakes for the wineries, golf and shopping. Hotel Clarence was an interesting and ideal place to stay for two nights. The design, comfort and cleanliness of the hotel were all top notch.

Also had drinks at the bar and ate in the restaurant, which were also great experiences. Shopping at Waterloo outlets was fun, and a wine tour organized by the front desk was a hit. Signed up for the "Stay and Shop Package" which was really an exceptional value.

Downsides would include the lack of walkable dining or entertainment options, with the exception of the in house restaurant (and food service stopped at 10 pm). We also had a piece of clothing mysteriously dissappear from our room, which was dealt with and returned upon speaking to the front desk. No spa or fitness facilities on site.

Room Tip: Stayed in a suite which provided some extra space, but there is louder traffic on the south side of the building.

Our main purpose of visiting seneca falls was the waterloo outlet mall. The hotel has a cozy atmosphere in a small town. I fell in love with the room right away. The decor is romantic and modern. I liked the little personal touches with my name and the chocolates and robes. The room was small but good enough for 2 people, and very clean. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. The restaurant food was delicious. The hotel is about 15 mins from the outlets. There are a few unique stores nearby and to be in a place where something so significant in history happened was enlightening. The only complaint I would say is the continental breakfast was lacking bagels. So overall if I were to go back for shopping I would definitely stay at the Clarence.
