Hotel Clarence was Great. Unfortunately it was just a stop over on our way through the area. It was the Thursday before Christmas. We were able to get a King suite-front corner room for $100.00!! That location may not appeal to all as it is on the main street at an intersection but he had a view of the bridge and the Christmas lighted street. The Bathroom was huge-2 sinks in a seperate space from the shower and toilet. A very modern sitting area with TV and coffee. The King bedroom was luxuriously comfy and beautiful. As noted by a previous reviewer the thermostat was set to high for us also but we turned and off and were comfortable. We were wishing we had another night to sleep in that bed and eat in their wonderful restaurant.

I stayed all over the world in 4 and 5 stars hotels. Usually the rooms are all the same, slight differences, but the general decor and layout are pretty cookie cutter. The Hotel Clarence is NOT cookie cutter. The bedroom is so beautiful. The chandelier over the bed reflects off the extended headboard. Its hard to explain, you just have to see it. The entire suite was great. The staff was very helpful. Great bedding. An awesome place for a romantic getaway.

Room Tip: Rooms *12, *13, and *15 have a view of the main drag in Seneca Falls and a partial canal view.

I do like this hotel for the most part. It is very clean and really reminds me of a boutique hotel you would find in Manhatten.

A couple of things though...
Durning the winter the heat is set for "a comfortable 72 degrees". We shut the heat off and opened the windows in the middle of winter because it was so hot. The room never dropped below 70.

The pillows provided are very thick. We ended up having to take them off them bed and do without.

Try to get a room on the inside hall. The outside of the hall is next to the street and sidewalk and you can hear everything.

Staff is barely friendly.

Room didn't have soap when we arrived. They brought us some and the next day took back the one we hadn't opened yet.

There is K-cup coffee provided, but day two they took those from our room.

A lovingly restored building in a charming small town. Rooms are compact, comfy and cozy. Loved the updated art deco vibe, and the restaurant serves quality, local foods and wines to help us out of towners get a true taste of this historic place (yes, Seneca Falls provided the backdrop of "It's a Wonderful Life, but it was also pretty much the birthplace of the Women's Rights/suffrage movement in the U.S.)

A great weekend getaway, whether for the history, the nearby shopping in Watertown/Syracuse, or both.

While visiting Seneca Falls for the 2nd time to attened the "It's A Wonderful Life" festivities, we were lucky enough to get reservations at the Clarence Hotel this time. Let me just say, We were so happy we did. The quaint, well decorated lobby was the start of what was yet to come. From the front desk, to the consierge, to the room attendants, the staff was efficient, proffessional, courteous and helpful. Due to the busy, "Bailey Sisters" signings, it was quite confusing, but was handled very well. Room was small, but for 2 people it was all you needed. I loved the easy decor. Very clean and neat. We thought that the shower needed to have a sealed, sliding door. Water came out from the bottom to the floor, posing a possible hazard in the future. Other than that ONE thing. We loved our visit, right down to the thirsty towels and awesome robes. We also heard great reviews from the dining room. We will be eating there next time. Sorry for not knowing names of staff, but everyone who worked that weekend was great. Nice job. These "It's A Wonderful Life" Fans are planning a Summer trip next. Thanks.

We travel to the finger lakes usually once a year. We decided to try the Hotel Clarence based on the reviews we read on tripadvisor. We were delighted with our stay. Very nice and comfortable room. Hotel staff, was friendly and the young lady in at the front desk in the evening was exceptional. If you need ice, you have to ask at the front desk which is a bit of a hike from the fourth level. That would be the only draw back.
Food was excellent served hot and the waitress attentive, however, the wait staff should be trained better in wine service. She had a difficult time opening the bottle and the year of the wine was wrong on the menu. Still excellent wine. Suggest that the restaurant manager run a mini wine course for staff. Still much better than others in the region.

Room Tip: We were overlooking the parking lot. Might want to request a room facing the street.

I thought the building was adorable, much love was put in the restoration. The room, albeit small, was quite nice; the linens were as good as my own home. Bare wood floors are a bit of a turn off but I think that is just a personal preference. The room is modern but austere. The K cups in the room were a nice touch. I loved the lobby, with the projector playing its a wonderful life and the sweet seating. My problems are as follow: 1 the website offered me a queen bed. That was no queen bed. it was a double. 2 the website boasts " all the amenities would expect from a 4 star hotel" which insinuates that this may be a 4 star hotel. It is not. It is a 2 star hotel with nice sheets and an ipod dock. It just strikes me as disingenuous. I adored the town, and I go to the finger lakes at least twice a year, so I will definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Specifically ask for a room facing the street. I had a perfect view of the dumpster accompanied with...
