The Clarence is an excellent choice if you want to stay at a new Hotel with unique upgrades and a different flair !. This is my first trip to this area on business, but would like to come back and explore the finger lakes as tourist. It has a good feel in the room, bar and restaurant. I stayed for a week on a business trip and would stay there again in the future. It is a recent remodel and they did a great job for a downtown location.

Overall, I am pleased to be staying here. This is an interesting property and alot of thought and effort has gone into restoring this building into the Hotel Clarence, a much needed addition to this rather average tourist town (in my humble opinion). The surrounding Finger Lakes countryside is very beautiful and the Women's Rights NHS is worth stopping to visit. While the town touts itself as "Bedford Falls" (from Its a Wonderful Life, which you will be inundated with if you linger to long in the hotel lobby!), it lacks a certain special charm compared to other renovated/tourist Main Street towns. My room is dominated by the Queen size bed which is absolutely comfortable; no complaints. Floor is hardwood laminate; high ceilings; two tall windows with shades and curtains. Desk workspace is somewhat small for business travelers. WiFi connection is solid; no problems. Room has a Keurig coffee maker with 3 coffees and 1 green tea cup. Climate controls are easy to use and make the room comfortable. Large walk-in shower; no tub. Sink is nice but not a lot of space for toiletries. No hand towels or washcloths. Nice ceiling reading lights on each side of bed. Chandelier on a dimmer control over bed. Flat screen TV on wall. Some road noise; actually more than I expected. Can hear neighbors snore and sneeze, but not too bad. Can drown out with bathroom fan as white noise. Restaurant is good; bar has good warm atmosphere. Curb apppeal is questionable; I understand this is a historic structure; however, solid front door and entranceway is not very attractive. Lobby is decor is chic modern; appears cold and uninviting. Front desk service is friendly. Parking lot is next to hotel (free parking). If you like unique properties, this place is for you. If not, stick with the boring chain hotels.

The Hotel Clarence has a pretty hip vibe for historic Seneca Falls, N.Y., and represents decent value for the money. Our party of two couples each had spacious rooms that were minimalist with some whimsical touches and fully functional. The management and staff were unfailingly nice but the service was occasionally less than sharp. In an act of kindness, they let us use a conference room to eat take-out pizza and drink local Finger Lakes wine. I was overcharged a small amount on checkout and, although we finally worked it out, it took time and a few phone calls and emails to do so. The restaurant has a credible menu but the burger, salmon, and the grilled shrimp on my salad were all overdone -- so tell the server how you want your food cooked. Overall, the Hotel Clarence was an enjoyable and worthwhile experience. Just don't expect the formal service (and prices) of a major metropolitan hotel.

Room Tip: The elevator is really slow so take a low floor and use the stairs whenever you can.

Dawn, Lue, Kathy and Sean went out of their way to make our wedding weekend at the Clarence the most special time of our lives. We had our rehearsal dinner, wedding reception and morning-after breakfast at the hotel. We had great service and we really felt like they cared about what we wanted out of our day. Our guests really enjoyed the rooms too :) Thank you so much.

Room Tip: The suites are huge, traffic noise was a little bothersome.

We stayed at the Hotel Clarence one Saturday evening after a full day of wine tasting. Check in was easy as Kathy was efficient and friendly. We stayed in a Queen Suite which was a clean and modern room. We walked into a nice little sitting room with a small couch, a floor lamp, a flat screen tv, a dvd player, a desk with a phone and a Keurig coffee maker. There was a closet in the corner with 2 white robes and a ironing board and iron. The bedroom was small but adequate. It had a flat screen tv on the wall, another dvd player, a phone and a clock. There was a night table on either side of the bed. The queen sized bed was comfortable and even though we were on the main street side of the bldg, we werent woken up by road noise at all. The bathroom was nice but lacked adequate hooks/shelves. It was a little sparce but had nice toiletries. The bath towels were huge but weren't quite white anymore. Maybe they should replace them a little more often. The shower was modern and open but leaked like crazy. There was almost an inch of water in the corner of the bathroom when I got out. Had to use my towel to soak it up.

We also had dinner there. The food was excellent and I will write a separate review under the restaurant section.

After dinner we stopped at the bar for a couple of yummy drinks. Just before we left we got one more drink each to go. As soon as we got back up to our room, I proceeded to spill my entire $9 martini on the floor. I went back down to the bar to get another one and they told me that it was on the house!!! Customer service at it's finest.........

The complimentary breakfast extremely light. We didn't eat it but I checked it out and it consisted of scones, fresh cut cantalope/honeydew, yoplait yogurt and coffee/tea. There may have been o.j. too but I've forgotten. Their response to a prior review said they they would now be serving waffles, but there definitely weren't any there as I checked twice.

Overall it was a very nice stay. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again the next time I visit the Seneca Falls area.

Who would expect a topflight hotel and a three star dinign experience hidden in a small village in teh Finger Lakes? That's just what we found at the Hotel Clarence in the Village of Seneca Falls. Fantastic, historic (yet completely renovated) hotel with a cozy and comfortable bar and a great selection of local wines.
Not a great place for night life and such, but the days are fukll fo wine touring & tasting, picnic, and exploring beautioful country!

Room Tip: The two room suites are FINE and can be had at a room rate during slow times!
