Even if your not a history buff you will find this a haunting and intriguing experience. There are hiking trails and bike routes as well. The visitor's center tells you what you need to understand the battle and its importance to us all.

Lots of serious historical significance, and just a quiet place for reflection, and a place to get some exercise.

A beautiful memorial to a bloody battle. Well maintained park with a five mile one way paved road that leads you through the stages of the battle of Wilson's Creek. Many events are held throughout the year so check the website. Horseback riding trails are available as well.

I loved this beautiful place. The battlefield is mostly intact with land covering all the stages of the battle's activities. It was easy to find the points of interest on the park's map and read the markers for details. The terrain is rolling and covered with ravines, open cornfields, orchards and pasture. I enjoyed the ability to see the movements of the lines of combat from the various locations as would have been seen by the commanders and their troops. It is much easier to visualize the scene as it would have been that fateful day. The park's museum and introductory film are excellent and the bookstore well-stocked. Very educational.
