Our visit was very nice. We were given a complimentary upgrade, which was great. There was a lot of noise from one of our neighbors between 11:00 and 12:00, and our toilet didn't flush properly, but did, at least, flush.

I would certainly stay at the Hilton again.

Stayed here for a wedding - enjoyed everything about it. The lobby/bar were beautiful - great place to enjoy a drink. The rooms were clean and comfortable - gives a feeling of the golden age. Will stay again

This is our 2nd stay here. First of all, the early 1900s Art Deco motif of this place is absolutely spectacular and our room was spacious, clean and very nice. The place was jam-packed with a wedding when we arrived and the lady at the front desk was superb getting us checked in quickly and with a contagious smile on her face. The Orchids restaurant inside the hotel is superb and will be reviewed separately.
My rating reflects two glaring irritants -
1. While attempting to alter our reservation, made months in advance, the girl at the hotel on the phone was absolutely incompetant. We asked to cancel Friday to arrive Saturday instead and instead of listening to what we asked, she cancelled the entire reservation. Keep in mind this place is typically full. She then placed us on hold and stated she redid our reservation and she'd "have to call us back". We called corporate and they stated there was no reservation showing for us so we made another with them. We called back the hotel and spoke to the same girl who then told us we now had two reservations and that she had booked us for Friday (the night we called to cancel in the first place). We pointed out her error and had her cancel the duplicate/incorrect reservation. This totalled 5 or 6 phone calls, absolutely ridiculous. We wanted to upgrade the room, that cost was no object and were told that nothing was available. That was fine with us until someone else in our party checked in and was told their room had been upgraded at no charge. They hadn't even asked for it.
2. Valet Staff is overwhelmed. Wedding party not withstanding, these guys hustle and seem to be staffed well. Takes way too long to check OUT, but that's not the valet staff's fault. It's customers being stupid, standing in doorways with luggage instead of in the wating area, demanding bellman and other things of the valet staff that is not their job.
Otherwise, it's a really nice place.

Room Tip: Reservation staff incompetant...

My wife and I attended a conference and stayed at this hotel for five nights. The lobby is on the second floor. The check in process took less than three minutes! We were assigned a room on the 14th (really 13th of course) floor on a corner. As a result, we had three large windows with views of the Roebling suspension bridge, the Ohio River, and several bridges looking west. The beds were very comfortable. The closet was large enough to store our clothing and luggage. The restroom was small. We had to move their toiletries to make room for our toiletries. The room had a desk with a desk chair. There were two additional chairs: a plush one with a foot rest and another standard wooden hotel chair. The only problem we had with the room was with the thermostat. It was very difficult to change the temperature because it wasn't immediately apparent whether the changes we made had taken until several minutes later. We eventually turned it off! The hotel itself is gorgeous. A very fine expression of art deco. We did not use room service or eat at the hotel restaurant because there is a mall and arcade which connects the hotel with the Netherland Tower, which until recently, was the highest building in Cincinnati's skyline. We at breakfast every morning at Hathaways, a diner located below the lobby in the arcade. We thought the food was delicious and appreciated their moderate prices too. The service was slow one morning because the rest of the convention attendees discovered the diner and overwhelmed the sole waitress the place employs! We did eat a meal catered by the hotel and we thought that the service was good and the chicken was good, not rubbery in anyway! Please be aware that if your room is facing Founders Square, you will likely have to contend with loud music and other noisy activities that occur there until about 11 p.m. each night. The concierge desk was excellent because they had a great attitude and helped us with many logistical issues.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing south and/or west to avoid the noise from Founders Square.

The hotel was generally ok, still I couldn't help thinking I could've gotten better value elsewhere for the price (you get same price at the Westin & Residence Inn, all downtown). Much as I appreciate the historical & artistic value of the building, the infrastructure really needs modernising. I've been struggling with things not working (wired internet provided in rooms not always responding, waiting for warm water to come out at shower for minutes, broken cupboard doors) as well as things not designed in a very functional way (too little space to put your things in the bathroom, difficulty controlling the shower). Rooms are not well isolated from noise - esp. windows facing Fountain Square when the music stage is open, but also noise from rooms next door.

Staff were very nice & helpful though, from front desk through concierges up to room service & internet technician. Gym & swimming pool working well & not crowded.

As stated in review title - I will try another hotel if I have the choice next time. This hotel would've been good value only if they lowered the price (USD 130 per night during my stay).

Room Tip: one side of the hotel is facing Fountain Square where there's music sometimes - if you have a ch...

I love hotels with a past, and this one has just that! There is antique decor, wonderful architecture, and even legend of a ghost (the lady in the green dress). However, it needs a "pick me up." The carpet is dark and frayed in some areas. The closets are very small, and they still have the old deep TV's kept in over-sized cabinets. The bathrooms are cute with pedestal sinks, and the complimentary bath products worked well and smelled great. The staff was very friendly, and always willing to help. However, I called concierge to get some super glue, but it was never brought to my room.
