“OK but nothing special”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2013

They are in the midst of a renovation and the rooms are less than spectacular. The front entrance had a crew working on the sidewalk area, which made it difficult to get in and out of the area to check in and out with baggage and the area was very dusty. We encountered a couple of small maintenance problems in our room which were promptly handled by their very friendly maintenance staff. The hotel staff were very friendly and went the extra mile to make our stay enjoyable. The valet service was prompt and very efficient. Once the renovations are completed it should be much better.

My only drawbacks - the room was nasty, needed renovation asap (I understand that they were in the midst of renovating the lower floor sleeping rooms and I was on an upper floor) - I sent a photo of the room to my husband and he replied "gray" - everything in the room was gray, walls, floors, upholstery...ugh! Drab! Front desk and concierge were very nice. Not happy about the parking charge, but it's in a city, so I sucked it up. Easy walk to everything!

Room Tip: Ask for a renovated room!

This was the first time we have been to Cincinnati & stayed at the Hyatt Regency. The hotel was very easy to navigate to! Right off I-75. There was quite a bit of a wait for the valet service, however, once into the driveway area, we were given prompt and courteous service. We were given a room close to the elevators with a very nice city view. The double bed room was spacious with comfortable bedding and a new flat screen TV. The convenient refrigerator was very handy to keep our water and fruit chilled. We enjoyed a very fresh breakfast buffet on Sunday morning that had everything we could have wanted including lots of healthy options! We found this to be a lovely city with lots of historical architectural sites to visit. Definitely enjoyed our stay and will be back again!

The Hyatt Regency isn't a bad place at all, please don't get me wrong. The rooms are nice. The service is good. But this is the downtown Hyatt Regency...all these things should be great. I should raving about the wonder of this place. I travel a lot and see a lot of different hotels. This should rank in my top grouping but it doesn't. They simply didn't "wow" me at all...except that this room is going for $250 a night.

Stayed here on comp from horseshoe casino and after the negative reviews was going to switch hotels but glad i didnt. Room was small but newly renovated and well spaced so seems bigger. Food was great from room service and all staff were helpful. Room was quiet even overslept one morning. Some renovating still ongoing but almist complete. Would stay again.

This was the first time we had stayed at the Hyatt and we were unaware of the renovations in progress. There was construction in the front/valet area, but we had no issues with noise or the valet service. We were given prompt service when we arrived. The room was spacious with comfortable bedding and new flat screen tv. The fitness center has modern equipment with video screens on the treadmills which I like. The elevators were a little slow, but there was a sign explaining the upgrade in progress. Hopefully this will improve when the work is done in September. We like to walk in downtown Cincy and this is great location close to theatres, parks and dining.

Location: Good - close to almost any area to grab food.

Rooms: Average at best - window dressing are a little tacky but functional.

TV: No High Def- still makes me shake my head that I get to spend $160 a night for blurry TV - So sad.

Elevators - Some are under repair.

Restaurant on site: Its completely redesigned from what everyone there tells me. Spent millions sprucing it up. The Breakfast buffet at $17 is a joke - you get bacon, eggs, biscuit, bread and fruit.

Serving staff is friendly.

Concierge - clueless. Needed a place to eat on Monday night that was either Thai or Indian - he has no idea where to find one. pulled up google maps and lord google pointed me to one 4 blocks down the street.

Hyatt in General - I love Hyatt hotels but this one failed to impress me. I'm not looking for 5 stars but I was happy to leave when my business trip was over.

Room Tip: Get a River view - otherwise you are looking over a construction site (a giant hole in the ground)
