Hotel staff very pleasant and courteous. Hotel room, lounge and restaurant very outdated. Needs some flare and modern updates to match the lobby. Carpets and entrance doors worn and dated. Kitchen Efficiency and Bathroom amenities (appliances and furniture), as well as an upgrade flat screen TV (2nd bedroom)also needs updating. (I.e. keurig with supplies sugar artificial sweeteners and creamer) no elevator access to complimentary or valet automobile parking or at a charge to be comparable to other area hotels Hyatt and Hilton. Transportation options great, walking distance to attractions.

Room Tip: Suite 801 was spacious but as mentioned with a little update could be an excellent suite for a family or several business colleagues rooming together. Excellent views of the city. If you don't mind '70's -80's interior décor. This an excellent room for its value.

1. A beautiful downtown hotel located within walking distance to the city library, public transportation, shopping and festivals, free transportation is available to the Horseshoe Casino via casino shuttle at regular intervals outside of the hotel lobby entrance (if that's your thing).
2. I arrived with a Senior Citizen group from Columbus and was warmly welcomed by the hotel staff as I entered the bright, modern decor of the lobby. My roommate and i was expecting a room with double beds in one room;however, much to our delight, we screamedafter opening the door to our 'Room'! I saw a two-bedroom apartment with~~livingroom (balcony view) an open dining area, fully equipped kitchen (dishes, silverware, pots and pans, coffee maker with real cups, and apartment-sized stove and fridge).
3. Each bedroom had its own TV, window, double bed, closet and door for privacy!
4. A full bath with tub, shower, vanity!
5. Everything was clean and comfortable.

PROS:
The Garfield is centrally located downtown and there is so much that I experienced including the city 'Duck' tour that went into the Ohio River, the Union Train Station and Museum, Underground Railroad Freedom Center, Newport Aquarium and attached mall, etc etc. Too many things to mention here. I'll continue to recommend the Garfield to anyone looking for a 'cool' place
to stay in Cincinnati. I felt like i was in a great east-coast hotel but at a reasonable price.
CONS:
The room was out dated. That's it!

Room Tip: Ask for a balcony view of the cityscape. I found out that not all rooms had balcony access...

Was here for a week for a convention. The hotel is in a great location and the staff are exceptional. The food at the in house restaurant is also good and not expensive. The bartenders are very friendly and drink cost or very reasonable. I would have given 4 or even 5 stars if it weren't for the rooms. They are out dates and in great need for updating as well as the entire hotel. But that is the only negative I have. The question would I stay here again and that's a yes.

Good hotel for business travel and if you need to be downtown. The staff is friendly and check-in is fairly easy. The rooms are large with a kitchen, living room and bed room. The rooms are a bit dated but comfortable.

My husband and I are from Cincinnati and love to vacation there and show our kids the city. We have stayed at this hotel twice and have not been disappointed. Yes, the place could use some updating. But for the convience of an apartment style hotel room in that location with a family. You can't beat it! The prices are great for the space, which gives us more money to do all the attractions the city has to offer. Who stays in their hotel room for their vacation anyways?! Many years ago this building used to be apartments. We will definately being staying next summer for another family vacation.

Room Tip: Get a room with the balcony... worth the extra money for a little outdoor space.
