From the moment one pulls up one can tell they don’t care. The hotel van blocks the place to unload and one fends for themselves getting a cart and taking care of the baggage. The “bad rug” front desk check in host has an attitude to match. He made a comment: “… enjoy the party” and one wondered what that meant.

Don’t stay on the “Penthouse” floor (there’s 6/7 next door to each other); it’s the “21” birthday party floor. I believe the University students have made it that kind of party destination. So, they left it dingy and old and not polished at all. Check the sheets that if they were changed and look in every dirty corner. Drains are clogged, toilets and a door security chain that is broken. You won’t sleep until after 4am and only until sunrise because, of the old wore out vertical window blinds. (It explains the millions of stains on the furniture, carpeting and walls.)

It’s a shame that this prime location is wasted on an inferior hotel service. The Garfield should take a lesson from the fabulous restaurant it has and it’s great cooks because, they obviously care, thank you, that was a very good breakfast.

I would stay there again because, the regular rooms other family members had, were very nice and clean and very reasonably priced for being right in the heart of downtown life.

Room Tip: Don't choose early check in, they don't have time to clean.

Our stay did not start with a good impression. We arrived at 4pm and there were no guests in the lobby but 3 employees at the counter engaged in personal conversation. The one who finally decided to check us in continued to carry on the "banter" with the other employees. After having me sign the paperwork he walked back to to the other employees. I had to interupt them to ask what I do about my car that was sitting out front, His response was "Park in the garage". I asked about valet parking and he said "This guy here does that but it will cost you $21 and its only $6 if you park it yourself."---Great upsell service! I then had to ask for directions to the garage. The bed was small and bathroom very small. On the positive side the overall suite is spacious, hotel within walking distance of casino, restaurants and ballpark. The value received was appropriate for the price charged.

Room Tip: Try to get a higher level floor as currently there is construction going on along Vine Street and the cars driving over metal planks is loud.

We knew this was not going to be the greatest hotel. All hotels in the downtown area were booked this weekend way in advance, so this is what we got. Although the hotel was dated and not the cleanest we thought we could make it work as we were just sleeping there.
First of all, all they had for suites were queen sized beds. And I am not sure they were even queens, they were old and no pillow top or any other comfortable mattress toppers. We climbed into bed and had to decide whether to keep the room extremely cold so that the air unit would run or listen to cars going over plates in the road that shook the room. Needless to say, we got no sleep at all!
After waking up bone tired, I asked for coffee at the front desk only to be told that the coffee shop opens at 8:00 a.m.? Really? Who opens that late! I was told to walk to Paneras, but got halfway there and wasn't feeling very safe at that hour.
I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

The hotel is VERY dated. Not particularly clean. Stayed because it was convenient for a wedding we were attending. The price was good but as the saying goes you get what you pay for. Would rather spend a little more and get a clean place.

After an hectic checkin experience with lack of directions for curbside service we get to our room which is VERY dimly lit and dirty. I didn't want to lay anything on the floor or the bed because it seemed very unkempt. Bathroom was super small and and the curtain allowed lots of water to stream all over the floor. I wasnt impressed with the bedding, or the pillows. The room need major updates, with carpet, wall coverings, bedding, lamps and tvs which were all outdated.

Room Tip: Pick a different hotel.
