“Sophisticated, Classy Hotel”
Reviewed September 26, 2012

We really enjoyed the historic nature of this hotel, but we felt a little out of place as a family with a young child. Most of the other guests seemed to be retirees. We enjoyed being able to stroll around the Mariemont area and to find fun things to do within walking distance. The parking lot was very secure and made us feel safe leaving our car at night. Our room was excellent, and the bed was very comfortable, but we were awakened by our upstairs neighbor at 12:30. The hotel could benefit from some soundproofing. If we could hear them, I'm sure they could hear our daughter when she was upset and crying too.

Room Tip: Since we experienced noise from an upstairs neighbor, I would recommend requesting a room on the top...

My husband and I stayed here for his 40th high school reunion. The accommodations were great as I believe the rooms have been renovated. We enjoyed having breakfast and dinner at the National Exemplar restaurant downstairs. The food was very good! And right across the street from the inn is a Graeters ice cream parlor -- which made our stay perfect!

We often come to the area Northeast of Cincinnati for tennis events, horse shows and regattas, usually staying in hotels along the Interstates. But on the weekend of the Midwest Scholastic Rowing Championships, everything was booked and we had to look further afield. Lucky us: we discovered the Mariemont Inn and had our best stay ever here. First of all, we were held up in horrific traffic getting there; the restaurant and bar would be long closed by the time we arrived. Not to worry; the staff put together some bread and wine and delicious saled plates and kept them in the fridge at reception for us. The hotel is a charming Tudor-style place, on a pretty village square with restaurants, boutiques and a theater. Our corner room was large and comfortable, with a large flat-screen TV neatly hidden behind a painting (that slid away at the touch of a switch) so as not to spoil the decor. The following night we had dinner at the hotel's main restaurant (National Exemplar), and both the food and the service were first-rate. But watch out for the chocolate ice-cream cake dessert called Post Mortem. We decided to split one as we were already pretty full. Good thing we didn't order one each, because it was big enough to feed ten people. But so good we finished it off anyway, and rolled happily off to bed. This is a very tardy review, but the memories are fresh and I'm finally getting around to giving the folks at Mariemont Inn some well-deserved credit.

The atmosphere was very quiet. The beds and pillows were so lush I bought two of them online. Wonderful sleep. We also ate in the restaurant downstairs and found the food and staff excellent. I want to live there.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 304 and I don't think we had anyone nearby. If we did....we didn't hear t...

Traveling for business, I was excited to finally catch up on one nights sleep as our meeting wasn't until lunchtime the next day. The beds are excellent quality. Truely, they are superb. The walls, though, are terrible. I got in from the west coast and checked around midnight. At 6 am, I woke up to constant steps, doors shutting, elevator noise ( I was at the end of the hall). It never stopped. I actually had to get up and drive (and find an open store) to buy earplugs, which ultimately didn't work very well. I found my iPod to serve the function better. As someone who generally sleeps well, has lived in urban centers as part of condos and apartments, I'm not usually one to ever have an issue in close quarters with others, let alone, creaking floors and loud hallways. This place was increadible and frustrating.

If you want a unique stay but don't value sleep (or just don't sleep well anyway), then this is a fine spot. I will not be staying here again. And my only suggestion is to bring heavy duty earplugs and put them in once you get in bed. Otherwise, you will be awake and exhausted on 3 hours sleep, like I was.

The inn is quite nice- well-cared for, with spacious rooms and comfortable (tempurpedic) beds. The shower is lovely- a large, modern glass stall. This is a bit outside of the main spots in the city, and the village is quite small, so if you are looking for a lot to do with in walking distance, you will be out of luck. There are some nice bistros in the area, however. Breakfast at the hotel is quite good and reasonably priced.

We recently had the opportunity to stay at the Mariemont Inn outside of downtown Cincinnati. It was highly recommended by our friend getting married for guest from out of town to stay at the Inn. From the image of the outside of the hotel, I was first reluctant but given the recommendation, we book a King for three nights. First impression can be deceiving; the grand foyer gave the impression of an old hunting lodge with wonderful antique furniture. The receptionist was very nice, to our room which if you view from the hotel website is one on the left right above the entrance. I met to take a photo of the outside door, because it seem the room would had been extremely small given that there were five room doors almost on top of one another.
But as we entered, the room was totally transformed, very large spacious and clean. As others had mention, the hotel had a complete remodel and it was highly noticeable. This wasn’t just simple paint the walls stuff, the entire room was modern with TemperPedic bed a first for us which we slept very well, nice large walk-in shower with duel heads, new TV but not really hi def, hidden behind the faux picture and fireplace. The room also had a very small built in fridge (not very cold), AC worked great for being very hot that week, and was laid out to not to blow the cold air as you slept, and extremely quite running. Had breakfast twice in the hotel, not the greatest, but the locals seemed to love it, service can be slow but a very busy place. There is plenty of free parking behind the hotel. Overall, a very nice experience I would stay here again the next time I visit our friends.
