Carew tower is located at the top of an Art Deco inspired office building in downtown Cincinnati, OH. We found the exact building a little difficult to find as we could not find address numbers on the outside of many of the downtown businesses so we had to call for directions. Parking was another hurdle. I didn't find the core to be very 'tourist friendly' as there are several one-way streets, endless NO PARKING zones and an abundance of 'street people' whom we found rather intimidating. None of which is a reflection on Carew Tower but is a truthful, visitor observation of the city of Cincinnati. Once we found the correct office building, we took a most 'interesting' elevator ride to the observation deck which consisted of two separate elevators, malaligned, that would not comfortably hold our family of 6 so some of us climbed the stairs for the last portion of the journey up the tower. At the top, we paid our admission to walk around the perimeter of the roof and view the city from above. The views are spectacular! We were there in December so the weather was cold and windy. Consequently, we had the place to ourselves! In fact, I recognized the voice of the woman who took our money upon arrival as the same person who answered the phone when we were looking for directions. She tried twice to kindly discourage us from coming as it was quite foggy and I think she felt bad that we paid $12.00 for a 10 minute 'adventure'. None-the-less, we took some goofy photos, skated around on the frozen puddles, took in the scenery (as best we could) and made the best of our time at Carew Tower.
