Description: It is a concept of casual intimacy and communal romance.Sotto is the art of simplicity, a steward of restraint. It’s undressed, gutsy and human. It is fire, meat, wheat, and laughter.Above all, Sotto is Italian.

We went there because it was highly recommended. Looks very nice, they transformed a basement into something chic, but the food was a disappointment. Mediocre at best - lacking creativity and finess.
A big plus - they stay open late, kitchen serves until 11.

Great food, which is expected from the talented David Falk, and a spirited addition to the downtown food scene. Large but not overwhelming because of the way the space is divided. Fun time for all.

We took the kids to Sotto tonight because we all enjoy Italian cuisine. Room had a nice crowd for 630pm with plenty of servers and managers moving about. We were seated at a comfortable 4 top in the main room by the hostess who mentioned that we should feel free to look around to see the entire restaurant. Service was much like Nada down the street as our server was friendly and easily made conversation with us and our 2 children.
We ordered a goat cheese bruschetta that was delicious with honey and hazelnut added. We had a flat iron steak that was great and lumache which we have enjoyed before at Boca and was just as good this time. I had the cacio e pepe which was seasoned perfectly with garlic, pepper and cheese. The wine list is very nice with a broad selection of Italian reds and whites. Desserts (ricotta doughnuts and panna cota) were delicious with the doughnuts served hot with 3 dipping sauces. Manager on duty stopped by to check on our meal. Overall it was a very nice meal. We will definitely go again with and without the kids to try some other items we saw on the menu.

Sotto opened about 3 weeks ago in Cincinnati and we had our first meal there last night. .At last somewhere where you can get a decent meal after 10 at weekends! This is the latest of David Falk's restaurants in the city and he seems to have got everything right from the get-go. Sure it was crowded, noisy and dark (a sure sign of success) but also very cool and sexy.! The basement layout with lots of wood, exposed walls and interesting bar and private dining areas is particularly well done. The menu borrows heavily from his flagship restaurant Boca but the pricing is friendlier and the atmosphere more youthful and casual. . There are some excellent bruschetta options to start with. The chicken liver and pistachio was excellent. I ordered the buffalo mozzarella & bagna cauda. The components here were great but the garlicky toast overwhelmed the delicate cheese. I'm not sure where the bagna cauda, a Piedmontese "hot dip", was but it was still pretty good to eat. There are a lot of pasta dishes we did not try as it is easy to get full here! The main dishes are tried and true Boca favorites we have enjoyed over the years. The hanger steak was good and the small dessert donuts were excellent. The wine list is better than most in the city. I would however order wine by the bottle here as the wine glasses, though interesting, seemed a bit on the small side. The service was attentive and welcoming. These guys are pros and know how to do it right! A very welcome addition to downtown dining.
It is interesting that this group will soon have their 3 restaurants in a 50 yard stretch. Will this be the go-to place to eat or will there be some cannibalization?
