We have eaten at the Pelican's Reef many times before. It is a nice, clean, family-owned seafood restaurant. The food had always been good. Nothing spectacular, but good and satisfying nonetheless. Our service this time could have been better. Our server was friendly, but by the end of our meal only a few of our glasses and dishes had been cleared (and we had appetizers as well). Also, there were a few times in which we had to ask for refills on our water. I was a server for many years and know what good service is and this time it was only average.

The seafood selections are good and and seem fresh. This place has a fairly large menu with good appetizers. The drinks are fair, sometimes a bit weak depending on who is pouring.

A little hidden gem in the Queen City. Some of the best seafood at great prices. Parking is tough at times, but well worth the effort.

Normally we are extremely happy with this restaurant unfortunately our last visit was a big disappointment. We arrived early because Friday nights are always busy. We were promptly seated and our waiter took our drink orders. We received our drinks and placed our food order and that is when everything went down hill. We waited approximately 45 minutes before our food arrived. Two of our four meals were incorrect. The food seemed to be overcooked and the waiter seemed to be disinterested when we told him our orders were not correct. We will go back again to give it another try but if this continues we will not go back.

The first time we drove by Pelican's Reef, we thought it was just a bar. Then we talked to some folks who quickly corrected our impression and we've been fans ever since. We usually take out of town guests there, have told friends from other parts of Cincinnati that it's worth making the trip to the East side for wonderful seafood. i can't think of anything we've tried that we didn't like, but we do tend to stick to seafood--the grouper sandwich and the gumbo are a couple of my favorites. The servers are friendly, efficient and attentive. There's a decent selection of draft beers and occasionally, in the winter, they have great wine specials. We highly recommend Pelican's Reef for a casual, fun evening.
