There's a great deal of competition in this area. We loved the exquisite scallop appetizer; the squash soup was wonderful; the mussels were average; .enjoyed the Belgian Pale Ale; .nice al fresco; and superb service.

Such a great place - superior service and both owners Alfio and Scott made us feel like part of their family. Loved the short rib ravioli, empanadas and grilled romaine. Alfio made a special sauce for the ribs based on my husband's dietary needs. A wonderful evening!

Alfio's has the unfortunate challenge of surviving in a location that has a tradition of short-lived restaurants. The interior is nice, but needs a makeover to compete with the style standards set by M Wood Fired Oven, Unwind, and the stunning new Boca. The food is good, but the menu could use some refining. And the service, while good, offers nothing to bring you back for more. Hyde Park needs a higher level of restaurant to compete with East Hyde Park and other areas. Let's hope Alfio's can take themselves to the next level.

Great food and excellent service. We had to change our reservations a couple of times but the staff was very flexible and understanding. The lamb was perfect and the scallops delicious. The only negative was that our table seemed to be in a chilly part of the restaurant. Other than that we had a great time. Will definitely come back to try the goat cheese ravioli!

The best parts of dinner on 2/13 included the waitstaff, the grilled Romaine salad, and the spinach salad. The rest of the experience was not so great, beginning with the first impression. We walked up to the restaurant and through the front window we saw a very upset man shouting into a cell phone, his face twisted with anger. We were led to a table and the rest of the evening this man strode up and down through the restaurant, clearly upset, and giving the guests indigestion as well. This man turned out to be either the owner or manager and haunted the rest of the experience, expecially the end, see below.

After timely and delicious salads and wine, the chicken entrees arrived. Each plate held enough food for four people, The chicken caprese was well prepared, the chicken parmesan was heavy and nothing special.

We asked for our check about an hour after being seated and the waitress said the computers were down, could she get us some coffee while we wait for them to come back up? Thinking this was just a temporary re-boot type of problem, we waited for 20 minutes and then just went to the bar and told them we had to leave. We saw the computers had just come up, so they quickly give us the bill and the screen went black again.....and the angry man was still on the phone. Apparently this was the problem that he had been yelling about when we came in about 90 minutes earlier! They had no back up plan to the computers being down, they all seemed upaset and the idea of us giving them a check or going to an ATM hadn't even been considered. Very, very strange business operation that doesn't have a backup plan for when the computers don't work! Wishing the restaurant luck, but what we saw of the management didn't leave us hopeful that it will survive.
