“Contemporary, Clean and Congenial”
Reviewed January 9, 2013

This was our first time staying at a 21C hotel-enticed by the "I have Nothing to Wear" package which offers a $100 gift card and consultation with a personal shopper and skin care consultant at Saks Fifth Avenue. The entire experience was superb. Upon arrival after dinner, we ordered a drink from the Metropole lounge(using the $20 voucher which was part of the package) and strolled around the hotel enjoying the quirky, contemporary art. The hotel room was clean, fun, and attractively decorated with special touches for comfort. The front desk staff was cordial and accommodating. I appreciated the personal e-mails from Samuel Mills, front office supervisor, who set up the Saks shopping experience. My experience with the Saks personal shopper, Liz, was fun, non-pressured and helpful. I also enjoyed the skin care session with Jill. All in all, a great mid-week mini-vacation.

We live in Cincinnati but my husband and I stayed for a night on his birthday as a little getaway from the kids!

Our stay was wonderful. The entire atmosphere of the hotel is just fun-fun-fun and it's a little "Alice in Wonderland" -ish as fun contemporary and modern artwork pops up randomly in unexpected places. We felt whisked away to a land far-far-away from conservative Cincinnati!

Check-in at the fun desk made of thousands of little army-type figures kicked off our stay with a smile. Arriving to our floor with the crazy paper-mache aerobics instructor figure put us into giggle & photo-op mode. Entering our serene modern room with comfy bed and funky bathroom tiles left us in utter relaxation mode.

The bathroom tiles had body parts on them randomly scattered throughout the basic tiles. A fun touch that really reflects the style of the place. No builder-basic here, all top-notch furnishings and finishes.

The staff were great and they seemed to really enjoy working there.

We had dinner at Metropole and the restaurant is a great atmosphere, lively crowd. I love the penguins. The food was mixed reviews, some great, some ok and the foie gras was terrible and overcooked. It took a long time for dinner (I wouldn't recommend for pre-show unless you come really early), but our server was great (even sporting a penguin tattoo - how perfect!) and we had a wonderful evening.

We will definitely be back for another staycation and will recommend it to friends.

I do agree that the area is very vibrant and if you're going there just to sleep, you might be bothered by the noise. But if you want to be in the heart of it all, it's perfect.

We have stayed at the Louisville property and prefer that over this one, but genuinely loved the contemporary furnishings and eclectic artwork in the Cincinnati hotel.
If you are looking for a clean, unique place to stay in the ideal location for anything downtown, this is your spot.
The restaurant is fun and the staff at the hotel bar is so great.

Staff - ultra courteous, congenial, and they went out of their way to ensure a wonderful stay.
Decor - stunning
Bed - most comfortable ever
Artwork - we stopped the elevator on every floor to see the delightful, original artwork on display as the doors opened. Different on every floor.
Dance club, across the street, was noisy - but I set the thermostat on "FAN" and the quiet white noise was all it took to block it out.
In the middle of the most eclectic, fun neighborhood in the city... Within walking distance of Paul Brown Stadium (WHODEY!)... Will stay again.

We have been frequent guests of the superb 21C Museum Hotel in Louisville, and when this one opened in Cincinnati we had to give it a try ... a birthday gift to me from my fiance! Our expectations were very high and we are pleased to report that our expectations were exceeded. The friendly staff was super-accommodating and made sure our stay was perfect in every way. The suite we were provided was spectacular ... the bathroom alone is work of art. Comfortable beds. Quiet. The galleries were fun to explore. On thing we liked was that it was not just a knock-off of Louisville, but had its own unique charm (and quirkiness).
We dined at the excellent hotel restaurant (Metropole) and will review that separately.
Another feather in the cap for 21C ... hurry and open Lexington's... but until then we'll be back to Cincinnati 21C.

We had a mini-staycation at the 21c, staying overnight and taking advantage of the spa and Metropole restaurant. What a fun time we had! The room was nice and contemporary. The spa services were excellent. The food and drinks were great. At every turn the staff were friendly and helpful.

What really made our stay here was the infusion of art and whimsy all around the hotel. We had a great time finding and viewing the art, and enjoyed the silly fun of moving the giant yellow penguins.

The 21C is an up-and-coming modern boutique hotel which is high on style but low on know-how. The furnishings are top notch - modern furniture, Rookwood Potter accents, and museum pieces throughout the hotel. The staff is uber-friendly yet in need of hospitality training. For example, after three inquiries we were notified that our mini-fridge had been delivered to the room next door. A prompt response would have been much appreciated. Most disappointing was the noise from two nearby nightclubs - The Righteous Room and Scene. Music pumped until 2am. Upon checking out the next morning we were informed that a noise ordinance was supposed to be in effect after 11pm, yet none of the hotel management seemed to have taken any action to ensure its enforcement. Several members of our group were inconvenienced and vowed never to stay there again. I'd love to see some of the customer service issues rectified as this is a truly unique hotel with much to offer Cincinnati.
