Description: For Jeff Ruby, this is the steakhouse that started it all. In 1981, The Precinct was born in the former Cincinnati Police Patrol House Number 6. This turn-of-the-century, Romanesque-style structure would hold what is now the longest, continuously running white tablecloth restaurant in the city. Recently named one of America's Top 10 Steakhouses by USA Today and Gayot.com, The Precinct is frequently recognized as having Cincinnati’s best steaks, seafood and service. This consistent high level of quality and overall guest experience over 3 decades has endeared Precinct to celebrities, businesspeople, families and loyal diners alike.

“Nice atmosphere, great food”
Reviewed May 18, 2013

I can't remember having a better steak. We've been to other Jeff Ruby's restaurants and other hign end steakhouses around the US, but the porterhouse that my wife and I had tonight was the best that we remember. The entrees come with a choice of the Freddie salad or a Greek salad (get the Freddie, it's bacon, lettuce and tomato in a buttermilk dressing - to die for) and a choice of garlic mashed or baked potato. The wine list is extensive, even the wines by the glass. For dessert, you can get Bananas Foster for two or choose from Jeff Ruby's homemade ice cream or other desserts. We had the chocolate lava cake (if it's not chocolate, it's not dessert). There is also an extensive list of ports, whiskeys and whiskys (Scotch for us Americans), including some single barrel bourbons. The service was attentative, although our waiter forgot that they had the porterhouse tonight (it's not on the menu and they don't have it every night). We overheard another waiter telling his table about it and changed our order. There was no hesitation or hassle about changing it and the manager came over to apologize. He kept checking back with us to see how our meal was.

My only complaint? Not enough steak. Sorry, couldn't resist, the porterhouse was 24oz and so good that if I were at home, I would have picked the bone up and gnawed the rest of the meat off of it.

“Amazing Steak!”
Reviewed May 18, 2013

Definitely the best steak house in Cincinnati! Our server was attentive and didn't miss a beat. He was very knowledgable about The Precinct history and even had some funny stories about the building. Wine selection was great! Highly recommend the steak collansworth.

“Might be the best restaurant in Cincinnati”
Reviewed May 11, 2013

Everything about the Precinct is first class. The steaks are obviously the featured entrees, and some of them cost over $50, but there are lower cost options as well. You have your choice of the Freddie or Greek salads. We all enjoyed the Freddie, and the waiter gave us a free one to take home!

“Still Fabulous”
Reviewed May 1, 2013

I believe this is the first of Jeff Ruby's restaurants, and it is still getting it right after almost 30 years. Top-notch staff, service and food. Known for its steaks, $43 will get you a strip steak, choice of baked or mashed potato and salad - I recommend the Greek with tomatoes, olives and feta cheese - it's delicious. Valet parking ($5) is on site. We told them in advance we were celebrating our anniversary; the hostess acknowledged it, as did our excellent server (Ricky) who treated us to a piece of cheesecake. The manager and dining room captain both stopped by our table to see if we were happy - fine dining in Cincinnati!
