I've known this bridge for over a half century. Walked on it many times. WCET runs a fascinating video about it that I recommend. The son finished the bridge. The father lost toes and died from tetanus.

Very cool bridge to walk across. Unbelievable how old this thing is. Nice walk and view of city from bridge. We took bridge over from Kentucky to do the river walk.

John Roebling was awarded the contract for the Brooklyn bridge based on the construction of this and the Wheeling, WV bridge. It is both worthy of study and traveling across. Reading about the effort it took to build a suspension bridge makes it all the more fascinating.

This is a piece of engineering art. While still used for car traffic, there are walking paths on the outside of the bridge. The views of Cincinnati are breathtaking...the trek relaxing. The cables are to marvel - and at either side of the bridge sit cafés and pub type restaurants to reward your quest. Marvel at both the art of the bridge and the intricate cables that pre-date the Brooklyn Bridge built by the same engineer. And a real reward awaits as you journey across an American icon!

Historical beauty over the Historically Important Ohio River, between the wonderful, history-laden beautiful riverfronts of Ohio and Northern Kentucky. The terrain changes immediately from one state to the other. Downtown Cincinnati is a sight to behold day or night (hey, I'm from Columbus, for crying out loud...This is a true RIVERFRONT experience!)
