“Doesn't live up to the hype”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 13, 2010

I live here. I spent a number of years going to Findlay Market. It's not like it used to be. It's lost its soul. Many vendors aren't very friendly and everyone wants your money. Except for Miss Helen's and Eckerlein Meats, it's not worth it. Super high prices, supermarket produce for the most part, people in the parking lot asking for money, homeless newspaper vendors wanting $5 instead of $1 and impossible parking. Go when it's not busy and it's depressing. No café to even sit in, the worst part about the whole experience. Feels desperate, not happy. If things change, I'd go back, but not now (February 2010).

“Getting Better All The Time”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 22, 2006

Hungry? Paula's Deli, Tara's Coffee, Helen's Grill, Mr. Pig, Donna's Cookies, are a few of the many wonderful offerings to customers wanting a quick bite to eat. For food shopping the many meat, cheese, produce, and seafood vendors offer great value and unparalelled selection. Also don't miss the Saigon Market, and the Mediteranean shop for exotic food items and spices. During the gowing season the Farmer's market offers the best of the Ohio River Valley in locally grown produce and fresh cut flowers. All of this is situated in a historical urban location that has a wonderful gritty international flavor and appeal. Who would not enjoy this as part of a great day in a truly world class city?

“A must visit”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 28, 2005

As another writer has said, please do not be discouraged from visiting this historic market in Over-the-Rhine. Since circa 1850 there has been a market here and on Saturdays (esp. late morning) this is one of the best place to be in Cincinnati. It is the most diverse place where all Cincinnatians can mingle to eat or shop for meats, cheeses, fish, produce, etc. Parking is close by or directly adjacent. In addition, walking tours of the area are given on Saturdays by the Cincinnati Preservation Association (check their website for times) and the market is now open on Sundays. (Not all vendors open however.) I never feel unsafe when I am there and I encourage all to visit as a step in improving the neighborhood.

I sincerely think this is a must stop for all those visiting Cincinnati AND for all those who live here.

“Findlay Market - wonderful, vibrant, don't be discouraged from visiting!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 7, 2005

It is true that the area around Findlay Market is run down, but do not let close-minded people discourage you from visiting this historical, interesting, and extremely unique place. The neighborhood consists of wonderful turn-of-the-century treasures crowded onto a gorgeous hillside. During the day especially (the only time the market is even open), Over the Rhine is just as safe as any other dense urban area. Lock your car, don't leave valuables visible, and keep an eye out around you. These are things everyone should do everywhere they go. In my 23 years in Cincinnati, I have found that the individuals who are quick to offer these unfounded, uninformed and often-times hysterical warnings about the Over the Rhine area have only been there a handful of times or never at all! It is absolutely worth the trip to see this wonderful, original, and successful! example of a real urban market.

“No way”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 16, 2004

No way. You have got to be kidding. That's located in one of the worst area's of town. I feel sorry for the out-of-towners who are coxed into going over there. You are taking your life in your own hands to go to that area of town!!!
