“Outstanding Museum”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 8, 2010

My husband took his mother, and I took my sister and newphew on Sept. 25 and we were there all afternoon reading, browsing, watching film and getting involved with information on family history (Ancestry.com). What a wonderful experience. None of us had one negative thing to say except, we didn't have enough time. I would definitely recommend spending time here, and if you're like us, you will definitely go back.

“A MUST SEE in Cincinnati! This museum is...”

A MUST SEE in Cincinnati!
This museum is on the scope of the Smithsonian Museums but set in Cincinnati.
Set on the Ohio River, the site was chosen to highlight ---one side of the river one was enslaved, the other was freedom.
I highly recommend the audio tour which will direct you through this emotionally moving museum.

The movie with intro by Oprah Winfrey and Vanessa Williams gives background to the "oh so lifelike" Big screen ESCAPE movie set in the dark wooded area within the museum. Don't miss this movie.
Don't miss this museum.
Take a trip to Cincinnati just to see the museum---it is worth it!
Ps-there is also genealogy search help at the museum upper level,

“Tremendously impressive place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 25, 2010

We went to the Underground Railroad Freedom Center as part of a family vacation/research trip for a film my daughter plans to make during her upcoming senior year at film school. At the center, we discovered a research goldmine. The films throughout the center are excellent, varied, and informative. The displays are frequently interactive, and beautifully housed. The Center covers the topic of slavery with tremendous thoroughness, and from an international point of view, although its focus is clearly mostly on the U.S. If you are researching this topic or this era, I cannot emphasize enough how much you will learn by coming here.

“Interesting”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 10, 2010

This is a part of history that I never thought about. Liked how it was then brought to current times. Thought that the displays were very creative and the movies we're well done. Would definitely recommend to a friend when visiting this area. There is a challenge finding parking due to the current construction in the area but once you find it the parking exit leads right to the Center.
