Visited this restaurant last night as I was in the area doing some shopping.
The restaurant was clean and attractive. It is located in a small strip-mall shopping area in a upper middle-class suburb of Cincinnati.
On a Tuesday night at 8 p.m.it was not busy, in fact, only one other couple was there in the entire restaurant at that time.

The food was served promptly and hot temperature-wise.
The spice "hotness" level was as ordered 1= mild and 2= regular. with up to level 5 available.
The quantity of food was good.
The service was laid-back, maybe so much that I wasn't sure if they just wanted us to finish so that they could leave and get home (left about 8:45 p.m.)

The offerings on the menu were of average number and nothing special about this place.
The pricing was average but I could get better variety, better prices, better ambience in other Indian restaurants particularly near the University area in central Cincinnati.

If you are in the neighborhood or live in this neighborhood, I think that it is a good Indian restaurant to visit; otherwise, it is not worth a special trip to visit.

Kanak is trying to pitch itself above the nearby Tandoor in price and quality but only achieves this in price and location but not quality of food is what you are after. The service is good but you get the feel that the place is aimed at the sort of person that doesn't really eat Indian very often and for whom price is not an issue.

We went to the lunch buffet again yesterday at Kanak India, one of the few local Indian places to enjoy a buffet on the weekends as well as the weekdays. The food was uniformly excellent and the number of dishes offered was impressive (eight main courses, hot noodles, two soups, two breads, two desserts as well as appetizers). The pakoras are terrific, the sauces on all the dishes excellent. A large variety, including vegetarian, and even a fish masala yesterday, but always large beautifully cooked pieces of tandoori chickent with lots of onions, as well as naan bread and rice.

The service is friendly, the water glasses refilled without asking, tableclothes on the tables, and a pleasant atmosphere.

Go and enjoy!

I was in cincinnati last week and we visited kanak india .The decor looked the same as last time, with same host greeting us cheerfully. We sat down in a corner booth , my cousin who was also my host told that the restaurant has got now a steady faithful following of loyal customers, and he was one of them. He also informed that they have one of the best indian buffets in the town very rasonably priced .we sat down and ordered our food which was promptly served although it was really busy. The Lamb roganjosh was amazing with the combination of Garlic Naan and Kingfisher. My cousins chicken Tikka masala was the best one we can get any where. To sumup I would say that this restaurant has surly gained maturity in one year of its operations I think with the sought of ingrediants they have got they are surely heading in the right direction.
