“Nice place for free admission!”
Reviewed July 1, 2013

We were visiting Cincinnati for an extended weekend, went exploring, and just happened upon the Cincinnati Art Museum.

This was a very nice little place. They do charge a very small fee for parking but admission is free. They had a lot of very nice pieces and had a special travelling exhibit on display. I'm from St. Louis and am used to our giant Art Museum, but I'd put the Cincinnati Museum on par with the quality of the St. Louis Art Museum, just scaled down to a third the size. When we arrived they also had a classical guitarist playing original pieces which was lovely.

They had everything from paintings, to sculptures, textiles, and ancient Egyptian artifacts complete with mummy.

If you're in Cincinnati and need something to do for a few hours for a reasonable price, I'd definitely recommend the Cincinnati Art Museum.

“Top Notch!”
Reviewed July 1, 2013

I spent a lot of time here as a kid and art student, but have been away from the city for many years. I remembered a few of the pieces, but there was a lot of new things. The presentation is extensive and varied. I've visited museums in many cities and my home stands-up very well. If you are in Cincinnati and appreciate art. you should definitely take the time to see it.

“Lovely Museum”
Reviewed July 1, 2013

We had a lovely time walking through the beautiful rooms. There are a large variety of art (paintings, sculptures, pottery, a car, furniture, even a mobile by Calder) you never knew what you are going to see in the next room. It maze-like enough to let you get lost in the art. There's a Van Gogh there that has become my favorite of his works. The employees were nice and helpful.

Practical info:
Free Admission
Parking is $4 (free with $10 café purchase or $15 museum store purchase)
Give yourself at least 4 hours if you want to see most of the museum.
It was raining when we went but the surrounding area looked like a nice place to take a stroll.
I will come back soon.

“A small jewel”
Reviewed June 28, 2013

I was not expecting much from a small, free museum. I was pleasantly suprised by the collection. Picassos, a Rivera, some nice impressionists, and a really eye opening collection of women artists from the area at the turn of the 20th century. Well worth a trip up Mt. Adams

“FREE and worth it!”
Reviewed June 25, 2013

Looking to save some money, but see some interesting things? Visit the Cincy Art Museum! There is a parking fee, but can be waived if you spend a little $ in the gift shop. (Take your receipt to the front desk.) This museum has an excellent variety of art from different time periods and places all over the world, including some works by major artists such as Andy Warhol, Claude Monet, Vincent Van Gogh, Pablo Picasso and many more. The special exhibits are always worth seeing. The gift shop has average priced items. If you bring your camera, make sure you talk to the staff about the rules before taking photos to save yourself from getting a verbal lashing from volunteers.
