Owner description: One of the most prestigious art museums in the country, with over 100,000 works of art, this grandiose building atop an Eden Park hill, is well-known for its 19th-century European and American paintings, but also contains numerous other works including an outstanding pottery gallery.

Have visited several times over the years with and without kids. Constructed in the 1880's the original building inspires as classical museum and covers the key movements in the fine arts from Egypt to Modernism. Kids interest is dependent on the traveling exhibits. There is on-site parking and is located in Eden park just east of downtown but you do need a car or take Metro Route 1 from downtown.

There is no admittance fee for the permanent collection so enjoy if you have the time.
If you enjoy the fine arts and I would encourage you to make it part of your itinerary.

This is a great place for the whole family! I am not a big fan of museums to begin with, but have been to many of them, but I LOVE Cinci art museum. The exhibitions are very interesting, people are nice and there are different activities for kids. Every first Saturday of the month there is a "family weekend" when there are MANY activities for kids. It is a lot of fun for adults too! The staff is very nice also.

The Cincinnati Art Museum is an outstanding museum exhibiting many forms of painting, sculpture and pieces. The Cincinnati Wing is particularly good. Entrance to the museum is free as it is underwritten by a community fund. Parking close to the door is $4. You can park a bit further away for free. A very restaurant on site. A great jumping off point for a tour of the Mt. Adams neighborhood. Try viewing the beautiful Rookwood Pottery collection, topped off by a visit to the Rookwood Pottery factory (now a restaurant just a few blocks away).

I was surprised to find this museum to be so enjoyable. One special attractions was the special section where thay had professional restorers working on old paintings. Restorers were quite willing to explain their activities while they did the work.

The standing Circus poster collection is one of the best museum experiences I have ever had. It is based there but I understand it does travel to other museums.

I took my school aged kids there on a hot day. They liked the different galleries and it kept their interest. We were able to see the Van Gogh painting that is being conserved. We walked to the museum from the free parking area in front of the museum which took about 5 minutes.
