We recently visited the Wineries in Eastern Washington and spent a night at the Green Gables Inn. What a joy and pleasure it was. This charming, picture book, gabled house is set in quiet, leafy side streets, yet a couple of minutes from the city centre. The grounds are beautifully manicured, with established shrubs like lilac and hibiscus. The downstairs rooms are classically and comfortably furnished with a finely carved oak staircase leading to the bedrooms upstairs. Our bedroom was sumptuous, beautifully appointed, a place for quiet and relaxation. The bed was large, the mattress firm, the pillows plump and the linen soft and gentle. The bathroom had a claw foot bath in the centre with an adjustable shower inside the curtaining. Everything worked perfectly. The owner/innkeeper, Alexis, is a delightful hostess who is attentive to your every need. She kindly arranged to have our breakfast served earlier than usual so we could get back to Seattle. No problem. And what an amazing spread we received. Wonderful Eggs Benedict, and delicious waffles with raspberries. Add to that granola, coffee, tea, fruit salad, juices, and freshly baked peach scones! Thanks for a memorable stay, it was very special.
