We recently visited the Wineries in Eastern Washington and spent a night at the Green Gables Inn. What a joy and pleasure it was. This charming, picture book, gabled house is set in quiet, leafy side streets, yet a couple of minutes from the city centre. The grounds are beautifully manicured, with established shrubs like lilac and hibiscus. The downstairs rooms are classically and comfortably furnished with a finely carved oak staircase leading to the bedrooms upstairs. Our bedroom was sumptuous, beautifully appointed, a place for quiet and relaxation. The bed was large, the mattress firm, the pillows plump and the linen soft and gentle. The bathroom had a claw foot bath in the centre with an adjustable shower inside the curtaining. Everything worked perfectly. The owner/innkeeper, Alexis, is a delightful hostess who is attentive to your every need. She kindly arranged to have our breakfast served earlier than usual so we could get back to Seattle. No problem. And what an amazing spread we received. Wonderful Eggs Benedict, and delicious waffles with raspberries. Add to that granola, coffee, tea, fruit salad, juices, and freshly baked peach scones! Thanks for a memorable stay, it was very special.

My wife and I very much enjoyed our stay at in Walla Walla, at the Green Gables Inn. We stayed in two different rooms and both were very clean, comfortable and private. The Inn is the perfect size, small enough to be personable but not to small. You do not feel forced to interact with other guest, if you don't feel like it. The hosts Alexis and chef Andy were personable and very helpful. The Inn is on a beautiful tree lined street, a two minuet drive or a 16 minuet walk to the center of town.

The only negative we had related to not spending more than one night in Green Gables. Both rooms I saw we're clean, we'll decorated, light and homily inviting. Prior to dinner we shared wine on the porch which was lovely; as was the yard and its landscaping. We were lucky enough to be served breakfast on the porch. The breakfast was excellent, especially the scones. We had a superb eggs Benedict and sausage scramble, with fruit and delightful herbed biscuits. We look forward to our return.

Room Tip: Explain the type room desired and it will come.

A group of us go to Walla Walla almost every year on the 4th of July weekend, primarily to taste and buy the wonderful wines from the area. The Green Gables Inn has become our usual base of operations. The house itself is a beautiful craftsman/Tudor style house in a lovely older neighborhood near Whitman College but within easy walking distance of downtown. The rooms are charming and distinctive without being too twee, and two have beautiful outdoor balconies for evening wine-sipping. (Our favorite is Idlewild, which is the former master bedroom and more like a suite.) The beds are very comfortable and well appointed. As several others have mentioned, Alexis Buckley is a wonderful innkeeper and has thoughtfully appointed both the public and private rooms with everything one might need for a comfortable stay - including many items you might not know you need until you get there. Breakfasts are wonderful, and can be enjoyed on the expansive front porch in nice weather. The choice of entrees is a wonderful touch, particularly since our group is very polarized on the savory-versus-sweet issue for breakfast. The service is wonderful (we even got help loading the 18 cases of wine we bagged on this trip). I can't recommend it highly enough.

Room Tip: There are no bad rooms at the GG (and we've stayed in them all over they years). Idlewild is la...

Our stay at the Green Gables Inn was delightful. The staff is very friendly and helpful with recommendations for the area. The room was wonderful and the bed was so comfortable. The staff upgraded us upon checking in without us asking. We had a great stay and highly recommend this B&B.

We would like to thank Alexis, Andi and the entire staff of Green Gables Inn for the wonderful weekend. Your beautiful rooms, quiet neighborhood location and intimate yard made the perfect setting for our small wedding.

The food was more amazing than we could have ever imagined. We loved the creativity in the dinner and family breakfast. I'm still dying for more of your eggs benedict with sweet potato in place of English muffin. Your warm welcome and hospitality made the most amazing memories to start off our new life together. We couldn't have asked for a more loving and welcoming place to have our wedding!

The comfort of the bed in the Idlewild suite was amazing. From the other members of our wedding party, the other four rooms had just as much comfort. We loved the quiet street/neighborhood which added to the peace while enjoying the balcony off the suite.

You get ALL FIVE stars and a recommend to every couple we know looking for a weekend get-away or venue for a special event. I've been telling all my friends they need to go wine tasting with their wives/husbands/friends/whoever in Walla Walla ... and stay at Green Gables because they will take care of you!

It is easy to center on the Marcus Whitman Hotel when searching for a place to stay in Walla Walla. However, serious consideration needs to be given to the Green Gables Inn. The Inn is in an old tree-lined neighborhood in Walla Walla that includes a number of nicely maintained early 1900s era homes. The owner, Alexis Buckley, is a gracious hostess. The Inn is beautifully appointed and maintained. My wife thought the bed in our room was so comfortable she wanted to bring it home with us. The morning breakfast is nicely prepared and served, including a front porch sitting in balmy weather. The prices are very reasonable. All in all, it needs to be on your "must consider" list for a Walla Walla stay.

Room Tip: Opt for a room with a balcony, if one is available.
