This is the third year we've stayed at Hampton for the Spring Opening of the summer wine season in Walla Walla. Staff is attentive, cheerful, and very helpful. Rooms are comfortable, spotless, with all the details to make the stay a pleasure. The complementary breakfast works, as does the collection of fresh fruit and coffee that's always available.

One of the biggest frustrations with hotels in general is the guest's inevitable search for a place to plug in his or her electronics. In this modern age, it is very common for a guest to have a mobile phone, laptop, e-reader, tablet, or any other number of electronic devices on their trip. And if you're traveling with family or friends, good luck! Hotels have slowly gotten better at providing places for us to plug these devices in during our stay, but it's just not fast enough. This Hampton Inn however, generously provided a charging 'station' on the nightstand next to the bed with several types of connectors. Not only was I able to charge my phone and plug in my laptop to work, but I could also use the USB connection to charge my iPad overnight. Excellent idea! I just hope more hotels will jump on board and start giving us such convenience. Thanks Hampton!

Although the hotel is on the outskirts of town, it is close enough to everything to be convenient. The room is comfortable, the king size bed in our room was very comfortable, and the sofa bed was comfortable to sit on. There was a good sized kitchenette area with a small fridge, microwave, sink and one-cup coffee maker. The pool was heated and was very clean. The breakfast was better than most, including eggs and bacon or sausage. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

This was a very expensive room for a Hampton inn. We payed over 180.00 night. The first day we were there we came back to our room after being gone all day around 3:30 pm for my husband to take a shower prior to going out for dinner. As soon as we got to the room the maids came knocking at the door and said "can we clean your room". We asked for 10 minutes for my husband to take a shower. The answer was no, either we clean now or not at all. Since we had to be somewhere at 4:30 we had to decline. But it made me really mad that after the room being empty all day they could not give us 10 minutes in the room. Not the end of the world but frustrating for the price we paid. The next day, they did clean, but left a note they could not make the bed because there was a "papers" on the bed. The papers were a couple of envelopes. Complained to the front desk people, they appear to care less. Free breakfast was one of the worst I have ever had. Tasted like freeze dried food, everything had a packaged taste. Second day we did not ever attempt to eat it. Also hotel used exclusively plastic and cardboard. No real glasses or cups anywhere, including in the room. Considering this is "wine" country it would have been nice to have a real glass to have some wine in the room.

We are sorry we were not able to provide you with a better quality of service. The Hampton Inn & Suites is an excellent place to stay. They have a free airport shuttle. They offer discounts if you are affiliated with Whitman College or Walla Walla University. They have an excellent hot breakfast. If you drive, they offer free parking. The rooms are spacious and clean and the service clerks are friendly and helpful. The hotel is easy to find. While not fancy or historic, it is nice and reasonably priced.

Very clean and new, and an excellent price for such large rooms. We poured wine in the little kitchenette, stored snacks in the frig, popped complimentary popcorn and, played games at a table with two comfy chairs. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was the standard for hotels, but in a very nice and large area. Easy access to wineries and to restaurants, quick route to the highway that skirts the downtown stoplights. We'll definitely be staying here again.

Normally I don't review chain hotels as they are pretty standard, but I thought this deserved a highlight because I had a nice stay, although I've stayed here before. The location is good, only a few minutes from downtown, easy access to the major thoroughfares, the staff is great and willing to make last minute arrangements and the rooms are clean and quiet. All plusses in my book.

However, (and this seems to be the same with all of the major chain hotels) the included breakfasts are pathetic. It's sometimes hard to find something hot that is relatively healthy and appetizing; what it is about biscuits and gravy. Don't get me wrong, I love biscuits and gravy, but come on, box-mix, sticky, thick, tasteless gravy with bits of greasy sausage and prebaked biscuits don't cut it. I recommend the stay, but I'd look elsewhere for a morning meal.
