“Best hotel service in Washington!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 6, 2013

Johnathan and Samatha at check in were outstanding!! My reservation was booked incorrectly by our travel agent. I was here on work and live over five hours away. I drove up this morning, worked and after realizing I did not have a reservation, thought I would have to turn around and drive home. Johnathan saved me. He made room for me and accomadated me with ease and a smile. There was never a doubt on his face that he wouldn't help me through the mess. I would have fallen asleep trying to drive back tonight. Big kudos to Johnathan, Samantha and the Marcus Whitman Hotel!!!!

All the staff are just wonderful, enthusiastic, & helpful!
Everything is clean & polished. The beds & bedding are comfortable. In room amenities are very nice. Breakfast has a good selection. Restaurant is really good.
Drawbacks: no pool. I'm being picky, but all decorative flowers & plants are fake. Tacky. Room, not the quietest.
But the wonderful staff make up for it all, even the over pricing of the rooms.
Walla Walla & it's wine country are a really, really wonderful place to visit, and this hotel does have a fantastic location, with plenty of tour options.

Right in middle of everything. Close to tasting rooms, golf and of course, the vineyards! The rooms are spacious or quaint depending on what you choose. They have a great restaurant and don't skip their breakfast. Their staff staff is friendly and helpful. If you're thinking of a wedding, it's a great venue!

We stayed in a two bedroom unit in the tower for three nights. The rooms were very nice, and outfitted as described on the hotel website. beds were comfortable and rooms were pleasant. Virtually no noise, but we were on the top floor of the hotel (floor 7), so this may make a difference. Note that the building actually goes up several more floors, however floor 7 is the top floor of the hotel part of the tower.

The bathroom was very clean, and in keeping with the historic aspect, looked like you were walking into your grandparent's old bathroom, with the little white tiles, etc. The sink, however, showed it's age as it had many fine cracks in the basin. Also noticed some dust and a dead bug in one of the dresser drawers, though it was easy enough to clean it out.

The hotel is in a great location downtown, so you can walk to restaurants, shopping, etc. If you drive to Whitman College, it's only a three minute easy drive.

The free breakfast was a nice value, but we only ate there once as our daughter wanted pancakes and they didn't server pancakes or french toast. We chose to go to the The Maple Counter Cafe for breakfast after the first day, as they have the most amazing apple pancake and their other breakfast treats were really good as well.

The other cool thing about the hotel is that they have wine tasting rooms right on the first floor. So you don't have to travel very far to sample some of the local wines.

The main parking lot can fill up by the end of the day, however there is a large parking lot in back by the conference center, which you can use and then just cut through the conference hall to get to the main hotel lobby. The lobby of the hotel is truly like a step back in time, with beautiful old furnishings, a fireplace and plenty of seating.

The hotel does not have a swimming pool, however they do have a small fitness room with treadmill, elyptical, etc. It is located in the hotel extension (off the conference center hallway).

Hotel staff was friendly and helpful, even engaging us in the elevator to ask if everything was to our liking or we needed anything.

We were in Walla Walla for a competitive swim camp, and if we come back next year we do plan to stay at this hotel again. All-in-all it was a great choice.

Room Tip: It's a historic hotel - suggest a high room in the tower, which is part of the original hotel.

We are glad we made the MW our first ever Walla Walla hotel experience. From the beginning of our stay Jonathan was extremely helpful and courteous. The breakfast was delicious and the rooms were comfortable and quiet. James and Samantha were a big help for making our anniversary special-big thanks to them! Overall I would recommend staying here. The only thing missing was a pool to beat the heat.

Every year we plan a wine tour. This year we decided to head to Walla Walla and the Marcus Whitman Hotel. From the minute the 14 of us walked in (4 hours before official check-in) we were made to feel welcome and special! Not only did Johnathon check us in early, he also held our purchases behind the counter until we returned from wine tasting. The staff let us use a conference room for an after dinner game (because 19 of us wouldn't fit in a hotel room). They were gracious, accommodating and amazing. We will definitely be back! Thank you Johnathon for all your hard work:)

My wife and I stayed two nights at the this hotel during a wine tasting outing with a group of friends. The value of the hotel in relation to the cost of the room and the amenities is outstanding. Our room was extremely comfortable, cool (it was hot outstanding), well maintained, and everything worked properly. The hotel offers free internet connection which worked fairly well for my iPad. On check-in a staff member met us at the parking lot entrance to the hotel, escorted us to the registration desk, and checked us into the hotel. She willingly and enthusiastically answered our questions about the area, wine tasting, and gave us recommendations for wineries to visit. She also told us about the amenities offered by the hotel. We ate in the Marc Restaurant which was outstanding. When we return to Walla Walla we will definitely stay at this hotel. It was a wonderful way to spend a weekend in a very enjoyable city. I highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: If you are couple ask for a King Size bed and room.
