“Awful”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 26, 2012

It is only open on Monday night for dinner. All the meals are $27.50 and there is a very limited menu. They were receiving a food delivery that came right in the front door where we were sitting and that was very awkward. Our meal was terrible and even the bread was awful. Worst meal of our entire vacation.

“Sorry to say, because I hear they really do try...”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 16, 2012

Salads were nice and cold, but plain and frankly not colorful or appetizing in appearance. The ginger dressing was delicious, outstandingly good!

We asked for rolls/bread... apparently rolls are not normally served with the meal. The waitress brought hard, crumbly biscuits with no jam or butter. Prime rib was warm - not hot - and it was chewy. Sides that were served with the entry were small and bland-- a run-of-the-mill cheap assortment of zucchini slices was bland. Pie for dessert was smallish and mediocre, tasted ok, but was a ho-hum disappointment.

I found myself wishing the waitress would offer to refill my water glass or offer to refill coffee cups, but the overall experience made me too grumpy to attempt saving the evening. Darn it! This should have been special

“Miss Lou is alive and well in Vicksburg”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 11, 2012

Miss Lou, the personification of Louisiana food and Mississippi hospitality, is alive and well at the Main Street Market located on the corner of Main and Cherry streets in downtown Vicksburg, Mississippi. The atmosphere is comfortable and friendly, the decor eclectic, and the food is out of this world. Chef Chris serves up such authentic specialties of his native Louisiana as muffalettas, gumbo, white beans and rice, wonderful soups, whole-meal salads such as blackened sea bass Caesar and the curried chicken with fruit, and scrumptious desserts. The lemon chess pie is to die for. And that's just for lunch. Dinners are festive. My favorite entrees are the chicken and cheese roulade with sauce bernaise and the prime rib au jus, both served with scalloped potatoes. Pasta dishes are outstanding. Prices are moderate, and excellent values. Plenty to eat and delicious for the whole family.

“Overpriced, limited menu, average food.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 30, 2012

Only open Mondays for dinner - lends it a little undeserved mystique. Price fixed menu - $25 per dinner with only 4 selections: roast beef, a tilapia dish, and two chicken dishes, includes a side salad or soup (only 1 offered.) Wife had tilapia, I had blackened chicken with boudin stuffing, plus a bowl of gumbo ($2 extra.) The gumbo was mildly spiced, thin broth, mostly rice with a little sausage. The chicken breast was skimpy. Sides were scalloped potatoes (nothing special) and eggplant casserole (very good.) Sides were scooped rather inelegantly on the plates. Surprised that the only fish offered was tilapia given that this is an area noted for fish. Fish was sauteed, and covered with a corn chowder (their description.) One large filet and a half-sized piece was on the plate along with the sides (my wife wisely substituted an extra serving of the eggplant for the scalloped potatoes.) Service was good but server not particularly professional. Would have been a decent experience for $15, but in our city (Tulsa) $25 buys a much better meal.

“Blah...overrated”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 3, 2012

Completely average. The green beans tasted canned and the meatloaf and mashed potatoes were average. The biscuits were the best part, but they gave three tiny biscuits for two people.
