We stayed in the main house in the master suite! We truly felt like we had stepped back in time...in a good way!!! The house was beautiful and interesting to see that most of the furniture was original to the home. Also a great location!

Room Tip: Splurge and stay in the master bedroom...you will not be disappointed.

The mansion is a beautiful and elegant old property. The staff are wonderful. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious and we thoroughly enjoyed having a drink at the bar with other guests. Our room was filled with antiques and pretty comfortable. However, the sewer backed up in our bath-tub and the sink was horribly clogged so we could hardly use the bathroom. Staff said this had happened previously and they are trying to fix it - seems like the hotel needs work on its plumbing system.

Stunning grand mansion. I have stayed at B&B's all over the country and this was by far my most memorable trip. Rooms, grounds and restaurant are all excellent. At check in we asked the concierge if there were any ghosts. She says yes. The former plantation owners son was killed in a hunting accident on the grounds and guests have reported seeing the little boy. File this little story away for later. After eating at the elegant and tasty restaurant in the mansion all the hotel staff left around 11:00p.m. They left all the doors open to all the vacant rooms, so it was kind of like staying at someone's home instead of a hotel. There were only 2 other couples staying there, so we raided the bar, found a closet full of Scarlett O'Hara and Rhett Butler costumes, dressed up and decided to have a seance in the ballroom. After partaking in a bunch of red wine, lighting the candelabra's, the fun really began. One lady asked us and the other couple where our little boy was. We both told her we did not have kids. She said a little boy had just run in her room turned on and off the light and ran out. We told her about the little boy ghost story the concierge told us and we were all freaked out. There is also a cannonball from the civil war still stuck in the wall. How cool is that?

Stayed one night in the "river view suite". It is far up the hill from the main house and next to Main Street. To get to the room you must go up 3 flights of steep, narrow stairs. There is no elevator or help from the staff. The stairs are about as wide as our luggage. The luggage must be carried up and down either in front or behind you, there is not room to carry it at your side. The view of the River is very contained between the trees and limbs. The road noise from Main Street will bother anyone that has not slept very close to main roads before.
The food (both Supper and Breakfast) were average, at the best.

Room Tip: Book a room at one of the Casino's!

Spent two nights there while on a bicycle trip down the Natchez Trace. It is a historical site and well worth a visit and in fact there were several busloads of tourists that stopped by while we were there. The reception staff was delightful with just the right amouint of southern charm and hospitality. Our room was cozy and furnished well and looked just as advertised on their web site with a beautiful bed and appointments. However, everything was a little bit dingy and no one bothered to make the bed after our first night.
The grounds could be beautiful - emphasis on could be. The pool - well let's just say you won't want to swim in it. The rooftop terrace where we went to have drinks also could be nice if there was actually a view of the river and not of noisy air-conditionig units.
My main problem though is with the restaurant. First, breakfast in no way compares with, say, the Waffle House. No choices. The food was lukewarm at best. As near as I can tell everything for breakfast is made ahead of time and the waitress just goes to the kitchen and scoops it onto your plate. Coffee in styrofoam cups is ridiculous. The first morning there was some cut-up fruit out for the taking but most of it didn't taste ripe. The second morning the fruit was not out so I asked the waitress if she had some and she brought me a bowl of fruit cocktail. Dinner was not much better. We sat in a dining room that was literally freezing cold and I asked the waiter if the could turn the A/C down. Sorry no. We ordered some white wine which was served warm. A mixed green salad was about three pieces of lettuce with what tasted like bottled dressing. Crab Cakes were no better. The New Orleans Catfish - let's not even go there. Don't let the elegant menu fool you.
Actually the freezing dining room and the warm white wine is a good metaphor for the entire place: The just don't know how to get it right.
So go and tour the Inn, maybe even spend one night there. Just don't expect elegance or sophistication and eat elsewhere.

we stayed in Vicksburg one night as part of our road trip and found the Cedar Grove both comfortable and accommodating. The bar and restaurant staff were very friendly and we ate in the restarant that evening and had a lovely meal which was good value for money on the upper end of the scale. Our room was in the coach house although I had asked for swimming pool house, but apparently the aircon was broken so they put us in this suite at no extra charge. The rooms are tastefully decorated and the bed was comfortable. The only let down was outside on the porch the last visitors room service plates weres still sitting on the table and stayed there all night so it didnt look like it had been cleaned very well although the room was clean (the bathroom is looking a lttle tried). It was very quiet, although it was a Sunday night. The receptionist was polite, although it was hard to see her behind the tall desk and a welcoming smile in the morning would have been nice. We explored the grounds a little, in our short time here but sadly couldnt stay for the house tour which I am sure would have ben interesting. Overall a good choice for the night.

Beautiful Place, but not worth the money! They are now charging guests for utilities - watch your bill! Breakfast was very disappointing, not what the website showed.
No hot water in room. Broken coffee pot. No shower curtain. Rooms not very clean. Very disappointing.
