Learned so much here! The movie combined with the reconstructed cave "rooms" were so educational.

“Okay if you like boats”

Very good introductory film, but the museum concentrates on the naval aspects of the civil war.

“See the movie, "Sahara" prior to your visit here...”
Reviewed September 23, 2011

The place is awsome! We took the afternoon and felt great about making the effort. Fun drive thru some great Civil War history. The highlight, for us, was the recovered warship. There are many memorials to see, lots of details and it is overwhelming, but the story is amazing.

“Beautiful area full of history and nature”
Reviewed August 15, 2011

This driving tour is cheap and extremely accessible which I like. The park has canons and many monuments reminiscent of Washington DC memorials scattered throughout. Very scenic and a must-do in Vicksburg.

“Such a reverent and historic location.”
Reviewed July 28, 2011

We have visited many Civil War Battlefields, but I can say this trip was a very moving experience. Just to view all the hills and valleys, I find it remarkable that the Armies were even able to move their cannons over this landscape. The landscape is also extremely beautiful and has an almost reverent, feeling to it. There are so many graves and monuments that I felt chills, just thinking of all those brave soldiers on both sides, dying trying to take or keep this area.
