Nice history piece to hide an ugly flood wall. They were interesting and added to the feel of the area, but not worth a special trip to see them.

I enjoy finding murals on our travels, and photographing them. I have a dedicated photo album just for those pictures. So whenever I see murals mentioned in travel info, we are sure to seek them out! These showed the history of Vicksburg, and were very well done. Each vignette was an interesting topic, with a plaque describing the scene. In case you want to remember all the information, a website is available - www.riverfrontmurals.com - where you can read it again. (I was trying to write it all down while we were there, there is a lot to remember! I was happy to find the website!) Take time to see these!

Nice group of murals depicting history of Vicksburg, Late afternoon or early evening when the temperature is cooler would be a good tine to view.

We visited the murals Mother's Day weekend. It is a great way to learn some of the history of this great town. Underneath each mural there is a plaque that tells about each picture. Then there is the mighty Mississippi River behind the walls. Great free outing!

The paintings or murals are located on the flood wall near the Yazoo river canal and adjacent to the Old Depot in Vicksburg. It is quite interesting to visit and also take a look inside the flood wall, on the river side, and see the marks for the level of flooding over the years.
