“So much to see...”
Reviewed September 13, 2013

Don't miss this interesting place with many Civil War artifacts and other interesting items from by gone days. The architecture of this building is amazing and the grounds lend a great view of some of downtown Vicksburg...

“Focal point of town & good museum”
Reviewed September 6, 2013

We skipped this museum on day 2 but decided we would "hit it" before departing for home the next am. Glad we did, had great Civil War relics, period dress, history of Vicksburg, as well as the actual court room used in the mid 1800s. It was a very good tour

“This is a must stop !”
Reviewed September 5, 2013

We saw the war Memorial and were told not to miss the Courthouse ....it is a gem ! It made the period and people of the civil war era come alive....
Although it was only my husband and I , we kept saying ow the grandkids would enjoy the displays .
I think that the interior have been use in several films ...that room and the staircase gives a very good feel of the workmanship and materials used during the mid 18 hundred .

It took us about an hour for our visit ...more time can easily be allotted to this venue ...it also put in perspective what we had seen the day before at the War Memorial...
The entrance fee was minimal and worth every pennies !

“Great building and museum”
Reviewed August 1, 2013

This was a great stop to add to the time we spent at the Vicksburg National Military Park. Lots of items to read through and to look at. This museum has lots of different shells that were used during the Vicksburg campaign. Plan on spending a couple of hours to see everything when you go. The building is beautiful and you could spend a great deal of time just looking at that but they have so much packed into the rooms that it is hard to see all they have to offer.

I hate to talk about negatives but there are a few. The priceless artifacts are not well cared for. They are in cases where the humidity and temperature are not controlled. One review said it looked like a pawn shop and that does describe it. I saw a Confederate flag from a battle that was stapled to a board and then a frame was kind of put around it. These items are not very well cared for but the staff is trying to display what they have. Another disappointment is the condition of the building. It doesn't seem to be well cared for at all. It is sad that such a grand building with wonderful artifacts inside do not seemed to be cared for. I understand at it takes money to
do these things but something should be done.

With that said, it is well worth the time and money to visit!
