The Old Court House Museum (1008 Cherry Street) is Vicksburg's most important cultural site. Inside you'll find several battle flags used in the Civil War; displays of civil war weapons, cannon balls, etc; Native American crafts - including an awesome pipe effigy; Beautiful antique furnishings; a room all about CSA President Jefferson Davis; and much more. The building itself is terrific; It was built by slave labor in 1858. Admission is very reasonable at only $5.00 per person. There is no audio guide, but all displays are very well marked. Visitors should note that there is a lot more at this museum than there is on display at the National Park Military Park.
