What a great antebellum home. Check out the cannon ball in the door way. History is fascinating and this place has a lot of it. It has good food also and excellent service. A must stop on your visit in Vicksburg

9 of us had dinner at Cedar Grove. The mansion is beautiful. We had a private room which was really nice for our group. The staff was pleasant and gave us a mini-tour. All of us were satisfied with the quality of the food, but for the price were not overly impressed. It was in late September, which is not tourist season, and the service left something to be desired. We were not served our food at anywhere near the same time, which for a large group is a major mistake. Atmosphere was impressive, and we dressed country club casual. We would probably not go again as a group, but if I visit Vicksburg with my spouse, I would Look at as a B&B.

This elegant mansion is worth seeing. There is still a cannon ball in living room and a section of the floor shows the ricocheted damage. Upstairs on the the third floor terrace, you can have drinks overlooking the Mississippi River. Dinner was served in one of 2 rooms, with the old brick walls and gorgeous chandelier. There is a 4 course $32 dinner offered, but we opted for gumbo (spiciest I have ever eaten ) , crab cakes, and catfish dinner. Hot baked rolls were outstanding. Very enjoyable dining reminiscent of the past. All meals come with salad. Some tables overlook the garden. But with every table, you are surrounded by the ambiance of a wonderfully preserved piece of history and a bygone gracious era.

This mansion looks more maintained than restored. Silk plants in the corners of the dining room are covered in dust and cobwebs. The meal itself was rather good. Small wine list. Good service. If your choice is this restaurant or a commercial chain, by all means go to this restaurant.

Totally enjoyed our meal, the biscuits were so good. The service was friendly and efficient and the menu was Southern traditional at its best.
