“More authentic than El Sombrero”

We loved visiting here with friends and visitors, and Cadets from chamberlain-Hunt Academy. Good food, very good prices.

“The staff wanted to go home!”
Reviewed October 20, 2013 via mobile

As another reviewer noted, the name has changed to Martinez Restaurant. The sign was not lit up so it was very hard to find. The staff was all totally uninterested in us and acted like they just wanted to be somewhere else. Our waitress was fine but never cracked a smile. Sullen is the word that comes to mind. The salsa and chips were good. I had the enchilada platter which was fine but not great. My husband had a grilled shrimp skewer which was over cooked, tough and chewy. He said the onions were overlooked and not easy to eat. This place was nothing to write home about. Average is being generous.

“Great food and staff”
Reviewed October 3, 2013

On 9-21-13 we were staying at the Holiday Inn within walking distance of El Ranchero's this is how we lucked up on this restaurant. We thought if we had one to may drinks we could just walk back to the room. We were pleasantly surprised at how clean the place was and how friendly the staff were. I had the fajita plate with steak, chicken and chorizo. It was simply delicious especially the chorizo. Cooked crispy and sprinkled on top of the steak and chicken. My Husband had the steak fajita's and said they were the best he had anywhere. The tortillias are very fresh and hot. I will definately make this one of my stops when we visit Vicksburg again.

“Now called Martinez Mexican Restaurant.”
Reviewed June 25, 2013

The building needs a little updating, but the food is very good. The chips and salsa were excellent as was the cheese dip we ordered. I had the Nachos Supreme which was very good. My granddaughter said her steak fajitas were the best she'd ever had. Attentive and quick service. Only negative was a very loud party of customers....must have had one to many margaritas.

The sign on the building says Martinez but inside is some dad gum good food. Chorizo was outstanding, flour tortillas homemade. Service was excellent. Will go back of ever in Vicksburg.
