VERY well-preserved/restored example of the old ironclad gunboats from the Civil War. Museum staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about the boat, and you can get really close: walking through the innards of the thing! Any Civil War buff will enjoy this, as well as those with an interest in naval history. The sheer size is daunting and the story is better.

The is a part of the National Battlefield Park not to miss. The museum is small and it won't take long to look around. There is a platform around the ship and you can walk all around it.

Great presentation of Civil War gunboat that has been restored after spending 100 years under water. Well worth the visit. It brought to life part of the story about Vicksburg.
