This is part of the Vicksburg Military Battlefield. Hard to compete with actual history like this. I believe this framwork of the battleship was under water in the Mississippi for 100 years. They were able to preserve it and put it back together in a very interesting display. You can't actually walk on it, but you can walk above it on some small cat walks. Hard to explain, but you will understand it you go there. You get an upclose look at this piece of Civil War history. Don't miss it.

Worth a trip all by itself. Gives the history of the recovery of the ship and shows items recovered from the wreck. Walking around the ship itself is awesome.

This was an amazing tour, driving by car they say will take about 2 hours, but plan on spending all day because there is a lot to see. You want to make sure you give enough time to see the USS Cairo, a Wooden Ironclad Battle Ship. Stop by the Gift/Tourist Center first and get the CD that will guide you through the park with spots to stop and hear details of what took place in that area. Only $4 per carload a steal for a great hsitorical adventure.

This is an interesting exhibit. There just isn't a lot to it. Lots of great artifacts on display from the shipwreck. Interesting to see the part of the ship where the mine blew a hole in it.

This is a remarkable museum showcasing an amazing collection of artifacts from the Civil War from the wreck of the Cairo. The most amazing artifact is the boat itself. If you are in the Vicksburg area, you need to see this. There is nothing else like it.
