What a great time we had! Beautiful pool and grounds. Great food. Everyone was kind. My child left a blanket there and she mailed it to us no charge! For you ghost hunters, a liitle ghost boy visited us while there!

Stayed in Old Quarter Queen. Warm welcome, comfortable room, lux linens, walk in modern shower, delicious breakfast after strolling charming grounds. Tour of home after breakfast was enhanced by video made by a former resident of Anchuca describing highlights of the residence/history in her velvety southern accent. A treasure as she has now passed away. We are not B&B regulars but took a chance here and were both delighted.

What a sweet beautiful place. Even as a young couple, we were able to appreciate the history and beauty of this wonderful house. Everyone was so kind and attentive. Their southern hospitality shined through every kind smile. We enjoyed our 24 hour stay in the small town as well. There was plenty to do. We visited antique shops, museums, casinos, and hole in the wall restaurants. Everyone we encountered was so helpful and eager for us to enjoy their hometown. We ended our trip with a delicious breakfast at Achuca after a great nights rest in their cozy room. A perfect way to end our small trip. Thank you to all the helpful and friendly staff at the Achuca. We appreciated your hospitality and we WILL be back!

Anchuca B&B shares space with one of the few remaining historic mansions in Vicksburg. The guest rooms are refurbished slave quarters (it IS the antebellum south!). We stayed in Room 2 and it is gorgeous. All of the furnishings are perfectly coordinated and beautiful, the room is spacious and comfortable, the bathroom is the biggest you'll find in a B&B. We slept very well despite the raging rainstorm outside and the threat of tornados. As an overnight guest (2 nights) we took advantage of the free tour of the historic part of the house-- it is as beautiful as the houses we toured in Natchez. The restaurant is lovely, dinner and breakfast were equally delicious. The hosts are all gracious and willing and able to discuss the history of Vicksburg and their beautiful house. And the location is near many restaurants and historic sights.

Room Tip: I would choose a room based on the bed size you prefer. Our friend loved his queen bed room. We were...

We were very disappointed. The first impression was a good one - but the suprise happened at night. They had installed a big heater right behind the head end of our bed. Whenever somebody turned on water the engine started to roar. Around 4 in the morning for the first time, from then on every 20 minutes. That wasn´t exactly what we were looking for after a long day in the car. When we mentioned that to the management, they showed no interest at all. "Next time you come you get a better room", that was all they had to say. Be assured: We won´t come again.
In general: If you want to explore a nice and living city: Avoid Vicksburg and go to Natchez.

Our family stayed here during Spring Break, and only one night as we were just passing through. We will definitely return. Tom, Chris and Sandra are wonderful hosts. The meals delicious and the accommodations were lovely, comfortable and very clean. Having been driving around the southeast looking at colleges, Anchuca was a beautiful and restful way to wrap up the week.

Very few B&B's cater to families, but our 10 year old was made to feel most welcome, and came away "wanting to someday own a B&B just like Anchuca." The food was excellent, I highly recommend the Shrimp & Grits in Cafe Anchuca. Four spoons!
Tom, Chris, and the staff of Anchuca worked overtime to make our stay in Vicksburg pleasurable, giving great suggestions for places to visit and those which might be a possible waste of time.
Anchuca is a perfect place to stay before venturing out into a day of exploring 1860's history.

Room Tip: A night in the Davis Suite carries the visitor on a journey into the heyday of the antebellum era...
